Well, now that you mention that. I definitely think the chess pieces represent lots of things. Another fan on the site mentionned that the two chess pieces at the end have Sora's and Xehanort's insign

Those pieces definitely hold meaning. I think they represent the seven versus thirteen.   Peace!

After hearing from some people from this site, I went to get a closer look at the chess pieces on the board. Here's what I found that I think might be what they are:

- Sora's piece = The silver piece with the crown

- Kairi's piece = The silver piece on the far right (the star- "Good Luck Charm")!

- Riku's piece = The third silver piece on the right (the middle)

- Mickey's piece = The silver one in the far back, which looks like Mickey's head

- Vanitas's piece = The golden piece with the symbol on his keyblade (Caramal Covered Ansem pointed this out)

- Isa's piece = The golden one on the far left with the circle and thorns sticking out

- Luxord's piece = The golden piece with the pair of dice on top (KeybladeLordSora pointed this out)

- Heartless piece = Found two of them in the beginning of the trailer. You can see the long ears like the Shadows have

Obviously, the chess board = the battlefield where the 13 Darknesses and 7 Lights clash.

Here's the trailer to check these out:

Also...keep in mind... chess is like a battlefield. The goal is to get rid of all of your opponent's chess pieces. Notice Xehanort removed some of Eraqus's piece in the trailer (2), one of them appears to be the one I think to be Riku's piece... does this mean... D:

WRONG! There are 9 lights and 16 Darkness

Lol ok mate

I thought that too xD

Thx,that opinion about the chess is rlly...important to KHII

Sorry, I've already lost track of the conversation D:

No problem

It seems like the case Vanitas could be one of them.I'm not sure on Isa being the sun piece. Nothing on his weapon resembled a sun to me. If the piece is a sun that is.

The "Sun" piece stands for Isa. It's not very visible from the pics displayed, but that "Sun" is encapsulating a crescent Moon. The spikes that stick out are actually ment to represent the spikes on Isa's weapon when he goes berserk.

Luxord cannot be one of the 13 darknesses, those roles have already been fulfilled by xerhenorts past selves, isa, and braig in DDD. The others may have some significance, but Luxord seems toooooooh farfetched. Also, Luxord is gone, his somebody has yet to appear.

GUYS. THE SIX POINTED STAR IS VENTUS.

OMG! But how could he become a SoD when his heart is pure light?

Given that one the chess pieces is a pair of dice, Luxord (from the past) or his Somebody (whatever his name is) is probably one of the Seekers of Darkness. Given that Luxord is known for being the Gambler of Fate, hence dice, who else would it be?

Actually Ven is represented by the chess piece on the light side shaped like his keyblade's keychain.

Don't forget what game this is, it's Kingdom Hearts. It's not impossible to have multiple versions of the same person through time travel, nobodies, heartless and stuff. Ventus is an easy prey. He's a vessel who's totally empty since he's lost his heart and he can wield a Keyblade, if Xehanort finds him...he could easily transfer his heart into Ventus' body and make him a Seeker Of Darkness. Maybe that's why Xemnas was desperately looking for the Chamber of Awakening throughout the series...But then again, Ventus' Dive to the Heart has two different forms, the first one being when his heart is incomplete (the one with the six pointed star, not holding keyblade) and the second one being when his heart is complete (with wayfinders instead of six pointed star and holding his keyblade)...So who knows if the six pointed star truly represents Ventus.

Someone doesn't want Luxord in KH3 :).

Nomuras gone on record saying that luxord is his favourite character, as well as the fact that the dice don't really work with any other character we know of. Mark my words, Luxord will be 85% likely to appear in KH3.

Well maybe it's someone we don't know yet.

Luxord is a SoD cuz quid said it and I agreed

Now seriously, he's gonna be one, we gave good facts I think...
