Good News: Gay Marriage is now fully a thing.

Bad News:TPP got passed.

Worse News: That means that most likely the internet is now f*cked for everybody, along with many other things.

Even Worse News: THE PEOPLE WHO VOTED TO PASS IT DIDNT EVEN READ THE CRAP THEY WERE PASSING!

I dont want to rain on the parade that is full gay marriage, but this is baaaaaaaad.

Edit:Heres a video where a guy explains what this does, hed explain it better than I would.

Anyone care to explain?

As far as we know, this little thing gives corporations the power to make laws as they see fit, and that affects alot of things as you can imagine, including the internet.

Like how exactly does it affect the internet?

But this thing is supposed to be secret to begin with so info is limited to that.

Ehh i'm sure if it were that bad it would be a huge trending thing on teh interwebz like the same sex marriage thing is right now. o-o

Like I said, not even the people who voted know what this thing really holds, its hard to sell information to people when they are keeping that info behind bars.

Everything we do know had to be leaked.

Well we shall see what happens.

Alright, so what I gathered from here was, the power you have on the Internet and what you can search and what not, maintaining it legal. And basically they know what you do on the Internet. Seems reasonable enough that you guys got firetrucked up over it passing.

For all that I care, yaoi could burn in the biggest fireplace, but I'm pretty sure they aren't going to take that away from you. Pretty sure they ain't making porn illegal.

The thing is though, this doesnt just affect the U.S, its a widespread union from here in the States all the way to Asian countries.

This could be a start of something big.

Which is why I honestly wish people would stop talking about the gay marriage thing or the confederate flag problem on news channels or blogs and talk about this, this deal passing can effect millions. This needs to be talked about more.

Well even though that seems tragic, as firetruck, gay marriage is a really cool thing lets be honest.

But yeah, unless someone with great power there ( I don't know who's in charge for that stuff there, since I'm not American ) solves that shit up, you guys are in for a treat.

Hey guys if you want to stop the TPP go and sign this petition on the "We the People" website:https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/stop-trans-pacific-partnership-bill

Do you mind just making this petition its own dedicated thread?

Itll probably get seen more that way, and something like this needs to be seen.

What it means is that corporations can now put massive restrictions on the internet as a whole thanks to the huge increase in copyright and trademark laws, as well as corporations doing whatever they want to the masses without any real consequence.

In other words WE ARE F*CKED

SOPA times 100

Wait, I thought that the TPP only affected worldwide trading policies, but it also affects the internet now?

Now I'm even more confused about it... Either way, it is pretty unnerving to think how it'll all turn out.

I'm a little confused of this myself. I'm not really an expert on these type of subjects... I think I get the whole internet thing...

Trust me, the TPP is doing more than just affecting the way we trade, alot more stupid things I might add, but they wont give a full release on this info until its already passed and its too late to fight back.

Just know that everything in the TPP is gonna have a negative impact, that is all you need to know.

That's why they kept it subtly from the general public. The only people that were really aware of it were the creators of the TPP, economists, or economic students. It's unfair and scary.

You know how countries import and export goods to other countries, like oil, food, cars, ect? Well, there are these things called tariffs. To quote Investipedia,

"A tariff is a tax imposed on imported goods and services. Tariffs are used to restrict trade, as they increase the price of imported goods and services, making them more expensive to consumers. A specific tariff is levied as a fixed fee based on the type of item (e.g., $1,000 on any car). An ad-valorem tariff is levied based on the item’s value (e.g., 10% of the car’s value). Tariffs provide additional revenue for governments and domestic producers at the expense of consumers and foreign producers. They are one of several tools available to shape trade policy."

They help protect domestic jobs, protect customers and local businesses. You know how Mexico is in an economic sinkhole right now? Well, A corporation called Smithfield Foods got past there tariff somehow, and took over operations for pork production in Mexico. This caused so many workers and business owners to lose their jobs and businesses, forcing them to enter the U.S. illegally in the first place. They just want to support themselves. So, yeah. This could get messy...
