It's likely not going to happen. Considering that KH3D wasn't a big game worth of content anyway and the game is practically designed to work with the 3DS (for things such as Spirits and Reality Shifts). Plus, to pose this as a new game and sell it for anything less than $40 isn't quite practical.

I doubt it's going to happen, since it's a 3DS game, like how they didn't remix Days and Re:Coded for the 1.5 and 2.5 remixes. It's more difficult to port from DS and 3DS because of the functions of the bottom screen. They'd need to find a way to do the Dream Eater interactions, or the Reality Shifts. And if they did find a way to do it, it wouldn't be anytime soon, since it only came out 3 years ago.

It's probably not gonna happen at all. It's fated to be the only KH game trapped on a Nintendo system while the other two become movies on the PS3.

I'm thinking TGS. D23 is obviously going to be mostly KH3, Gamescom might include a sneak peek at Chi or the probable 1.5/2.5 remasters, so TGS seems like a good place for the 3D remaster to be announced.

I don't see it happening at all. The game is fine as it is, and it wouldn't work on a PS4 or Xbox 1 system anyway. not with Reality Shifts, the Dream Eaters, the Faith lines, and pretty much everything else that was custom to the 3DS.

Plus, it looks fine as it is: a HD master would only make the company seem money hungry.

Well you can any company is money hungry when make HD remasters: Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Capcom, etc. I know how to make the touch screen features work with a controller. To activate Reality Shift, click the L3 & R3 buttons. To play with the Dream Eaters, hit X or A on the Dream Eater and then use the Left Stick to pet/rub it and the right stick to rotate them.

due to the amount of surprise SE had for us for the past few years, it won't surprise me if they have been secretly working on DDDHD for the ps4. I think it MIGHT get announced at TGS because it is the only event that kingdom hearts 3 wasn't directly confirmed to be there, but anything can happen though.

Probably at TGS, for now at least, cause they haven't said anything for that event and they've been giving us a WHOLE LOT of info this year. It is coming out with all the hints they've given us, even though I wouldn't call them hints cause they've pretty much out right said it at this point and it would make sense for DDD to have an HD remake.

People are getting too hung up on Reality Shift and playing with the Dream Eaters. I am pretty positive that Square is able to work around those issues (neither of them being super important anyway). Nomura says it bothers him to have this title left out, so it will receive an HD treatment (cutscenes or the game) in some form or another. Not to mention that it holds too many important plot points to be left out.

Exactly. Plus, the HD remakes were meant to build hype towards Kingdom Hearts 3, to relive the past events. So DDD, a game specifically leading up to KH3, is without a doubt getting a remake on the PS4. Heck, it would make the whole 'games on different consoles' situation better cause all one would need would be a PS3, PS4/XBOX One and an IOS/Android.

The game is fine as it is and it's on a current gen system so I don't see it happening.

i don't think its going to happen

I ain't listening to any of the doubters out there, I think KH3D HD has at least some chance of happening, be it a game port or a cutscene/battle scene collection. And in terms of ANY new games in the KH franchise, typically we learn about them from TGS first, so if anything it has a better chance showing up there than anywhere else. Please make it happen...or something happen, at least something needs to be done with 3D in some kind of HD format. <3

Sounds a bit complicated.

I won't argue on it: My perosnal opinion is it wouldn't work, but we don't make the choice of what games are made, All you can do is wait.

when they remaster kh3.5 for the ps5

Why do people still think Dream Drop Distance HD is a thing? We don't need Square Enix to remake the game. That will only waste development time for Kingdom Hearts 3.

Well we can say the same thing about 1.5 and 2.5. And Nomura said that it's the only game that hasn't gotten the HD treatment so it makes sense to make it after the success of the two ReMIXes plus it let's people who haven't played on the 3DS to play it on consoles.

This is SE here. We don't KNOW if DDDHD is going to be a thing or not, but we DO know that SE has been known to surprise their fans like how we were surprised that KH3 was announced at e3 2013.

nomura did say he was going to do something with 3D but i highly doubt it will be a full port of the game, it will probably be cutscenes. i mean do you know how hard it would be to map everything to a controller plus that would delay KH3's and X's release.

Well, do you know how hard it is to map it? Nomura has multiple KH teams so he can have one team to work on the port.

so basically, we know that they are secretly developing DDDHD before they announced it.

Pretty much yeah. I mean, look at all the 'hints' they've given us:

  • The special credits in HD 2.5 ReMix
  • The clips in the KH3 teaser at the end of the 2.5 trailer pre-E3 2014
  • The fact that Nomura himself said that leaving this game without an HD remake would be weird and that's 100% absolutely correct

Before the HD remakes were a thing, there was this whole problem with the KH games being spread exclusively on multiple gaming systems. While I was able to get all the games, it was pretty unfair for those who didn't wish to buy certain of these systems or even those who couldn't afford them. The HD remakes were perfect for this situation! People are now able to get six KH games all on the PS3. Releasing an HD remake of DDD would make this scenario even better if they released it on the PS4 as a game, not as a movie. If this were to happen, then all one would need would be a PS3, IOS/Android and a PS4 to play all the games.

Another thing to mention is the fact that the HD remakes were made to build hype towards KH3, to relive the past games and remember what all of these are leading up to. Dream Drop Distance is a game that specifically leads up to Kingdom Hearts 3 for Pete's sake! One can argue that it would be too soon to release an HD remake of DDD. And to that I say, BBS came out in 2010 and its HD remake came out four years later. DDD came out in 2012 and three years have already passed. One could argue that it was stated in an interview that Square is not planning to release an HD remake of DDD and to that I say: They weren't planning on making Birth by Sleep Final Mix either, but they released it. Heck, they were originally gonna end the series at Kingdom Hearts 2 and look how far they've gone.

Without a doubt, they're making it. Whether one agrees or not, it's pretty obvious at this point that they're developing it. It wouldn't even take them as long as making 1.5 or 2.5. Why? Cause it's only ONE game while 1.5 and 2.5 each had two games and a movie. They can literally get another team instead of the Osaka team and just HD-ify the game and change the gameplay around a bit, that's all.

I've waited long for Kingdom Hearts 3 and I think I can wait a little longer.
