The Jimmy Kimmel incident is Pathetic.

Posted

When Ubisoft release broken games for full price no-one bats an eye. When Jimmy Kimmel makes a joke about livestreams everyone cries and goes to war over their keyboards. This perfectly sums up what's wrong with the gaming community sometimes, we get upset over the pettiest things. Why do people care about Jimmy Kimmel's opinions?

Before I start I would like to say: I know there are people who have spoken out about these things but there are a lot of people who don't.

Let me give you guys some examples:

AC Unity-Day 1, It was broken, SOLD AT FULL PRICE (

Ride To Hell retribution-you don't even have to play this game to know how bad it is. Go watch some footage of it on YouTube. THE DEVELOPERS CHARGED FULL PRICE FOR THAT GAME.

Remember the Metal Gear Solid game that came out last year or the year before? And some people were completing the game in 10 minutes? Konami charged FULL PRICE for a game that people could beat in 10 minutes. Most people beat the game in about 1-2 hours, but that's still horrendous.

Destiny DLC being locked on the disc? To get the full experience and story you have to  BUY the DLC!

Remember when Microsoft had that stage demo to show off how powerful the Xbox One was? Then it turns out the games they were playing were actually being run on PC's underneath the stage? Not Xbox One's?

Devs are charging full prices for slightly improved HD remakes of games that are only a few years old and it kills originality.

People need to start taking stands because these developers are scamming you all so badly. Lying about the power of their 'next gen' hardware when gaming PC'S could perform how the PS4 could 1-2 years ago?

Then there's Call of Duty which I'm not even going to talk about. But I've mentioned it as a reminder.

Just as the youtuber 'The Black Hokage' said:

"Imagine you were a kid or a teenager and you worked your ass off shovelling snow and mowing lawns to get money so you could buy the newest Assassins Creed Game, then the game is full of bugs and glitches and you can't even play it"

I know the developers release Patches and so on, but it's not acceptable. Do you really want to have to wait an extra 3/4 days for them to patch things up when they should have already done it? It's lazy.

Or "Your a kid and you work your ass off doing odd jobs to buy the new MGS game, and you beat the game in 1 hour. All that work you did was for nothing. How would you feel?"

The point I'm trying to make is, these developers are scamming all you fools and you don't say anything. But one random TV presenter cracks a few jokes about livestreams and people start telling him to die of HIV?

I'm confused. What do broken triple-A games and the Jimmy Kimmel video about Youtube Gaming have in common? While the comments aimed at Jimmy were in bad taste by a few, they do not represent the views of the entire gaming community. I thought Jimmy Kimmel's 'joke' towards people watching others stream was incredibly stupid, yet I didn't wish cancer upon him.People have complained about triple-A games being broken messes and Ubisoft got a LOT of negative feedback for how Unity shipped. As for MGSV: GZ, now I don't play the series, but I'm 99% certain that game didn't ship at full price. It was definitely no more than $40 at launch.

It's the fact that people seem more upset at Jimmy Kimmel for a joke then at game developers for lying, laziness and corporate greed.

I agree with a lot here. ^ (Though I found Ground Zeroes did sell full game price in some stores/places)

I've never been happy with a ton of the stuff mentioned in OP and I have joined others in complaining. But as I mostly buy and play Nintendo games (with Sony coming second) I've never really been directly involved in all these specific problems.  :/

I'm not upset at Jimmy Kimmel. I mean it was just a joke, after all he's a comedian. So no need to take that too seriously. If someone takes everything a comedian says seriously and gets furious about it, his life must to be quite boring.

People in this community need to wake up and start looking at the bigger problems.

I don't think the comparison is good but okay.

Still, even though I don't agree with JK's entire opinion (even if I find watching people play games boring), the whole segment was blown out of proportion.

I don't know what part of the internet you browse, but I'm reasonably certain that there is certainly an equal amount of anger aimed at the points you've brought up as there is towards anything else. Heck, if there's one thing the internet is NOT, it's willing to overlook things.

The youtube comments don't really represent the whole community. I'm pretty sure that people get the joke or not.

I don't see it. And if so then it's still wrong. The amount of anger generated by a joke is equal to the amount of anger generated by corporate greed and laziness. We should be more angry at thieving corporations than at an amateur joke.

I don't have anything to say on the games themselves, but Kimmel was merely uninformed. Mark said he had tons of fun and just wanted to let him know what YouTubers were about.

Maybe in the future when technology is so advanced and we're much older, we'll be making assumptions on things. We'll get hate because we don't understand. That's all.

But, yeah, people need to chill.

I don't even know what he even said but how people are reacting is pathetic, if I remember correctly Markiplier was on Jimmy Kimmel yesterday and it seems to be that that episode was when this thing started, he made a joke, hes a comedian a lot of comedians poke fun at groups of people to make people laugh and most often then not it gets those groups of people to laugh as well.  A few of the things you said about those games are true, and actually people where upset about how broken Unity was and it was funny, same with Ride to Hell that shit is broken beyond repair but it makes it so much more funny.  the thing about what you said about Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes is false though it was either 30 or 40 dollars when it first came out but it had so much more other stuff that you could do in it that it was really worth the money

I got roasted by a lot of ya'll, I need some back-up xD

UbiSoft are terrible. It has almost become an industry standard to release a buggy game and hope that a Day One patch fixes everything. Otherwise, developers won't feel inclined to make a patch as people have already bought the game, and patching it doesn't mean they get paid. Like you said, Unity was a mess and still is. I remember TLoU remastered was sold at £39.99 which is ridiculous for just a more HD version, despite how great the story is.

Just like when they do those: "I told my kids I ate all of their candy", "Mean Tweets (all of them)", even Jimmy and Kevin Hart riding one of those scariest roller coasters (let along Hart saying that he don't like roller coasters.). It's all a joke. Just a joke, no fowl.
