Anyone else disappointed that Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 is not coming to PS3 and XB1?

Posted

I just find it stupid that 2.8 isn't coming to the PS3. (Or XB1) All the Remixs are on the PS3, why not release a port? It would have pleased tons of fans. It's even worse that 2.8 isn't coming to XB1. KH3 is coming to XB1 along with the PS4. What's stopping Square Enix making it available on there? Now most KH gotta buy a PS4 (Probably cost like $400 or more) and 2.8. And by checking the price it's about $460.98 for a console that has a lack of games, a HD version of Dream Drop Distance, a probably terrible HD movie about Unchained(You know it's going to be terrible like the previous remixs), a unknown but a likely chance of a movie about Aqua in the RoD. Square Enix should have really thought about past gen systems and different consoles to put games on.

I am a bit bummed that its not coming to PS3 though I think its because of the gameplay for KH3D which required some use of the touchpad. I'm also curious to why its not released for Xb1 , as you said  KH3 is coming to Xb1 anyway.

Even if the PS3 could handle 0.2, there is no way the PS3 could play DDD HD since it lacks touch controls. Same with Xbox one, it can handle what is provided in the 2.8 collection, but it's doesn't have any touch controls to play DDD HD.

Also, PlayStation 4 have many games to play. There is Bloodborne, Until Dawn, The Last of Us Remastered, ect, it also has a good 3rd party support and can run 3rd party games better than Xbox one. I look forward to Bloodborne's expansion, and I'll be busy playing Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin and Diablo 3 since I got them for a very good deal on the 20th anniversary sale and they are very fun games.

PS3 doesn't support Unreal Engine 4, which is what KH 0.2 runs on.

SE doesn't seem to be a big supporter of Xbox anymore (see DQ, FF7 remake) so I don't they'll be releasing any games for that platform in the future. The only reason KH3 and FFXV are still coming to it is because they were announced for it before they knew which console would be this gen's market leader.

yes, it kinda sucks that 2.9 isn't coming to the ps3. I'm going to have to get a ps4 eventually anyways.

Well Birth by Sleep 0.2 is playable, it has been announced, and it runs on the Unreal 4 Engine the same engine that Kingdom Hearts 3 is going to run on, which is something that the PS3 can't run so even thought that leak said it would be available for both PS3 and PS4 I don't think it will come out.  I do agree that it is odd that they don't have any of the other KH games on any Xbox systems with KH3 coming out on Xbox One as well.  I will however strongly disagree with you that the PS4 is a console that lacks games, it has plenty of games to play such as, Until Dawn, Metal Gear Solid V, Type-0, BloodBorne, Fallout 4, and so many other games that make the console worth it, unless of course you don't like those kinds of games, but it dose have plenty of games.

They can just use the old style from BBS. That is no excuse.

Does 3D even need touch controls? With a little bit of effort reality shifts and the dream eater related stuff could be made to use conventional controls.

Or their mainline games are big sellers in general, and since porting costs are lower than ever, they're guaranteed to make at least a bit of money off of them.

As for your examples, Dragon Quest is very niche outside of Japan (and we should all know Japan's bias for domestic companies), and Final Fantasy 7 is currently ambigous; "First on Playstation" implies porting sometime after the initial release.

As I said in a similiar thread, the decision to forgo an Xbox One port makes little sense: KH3 is releasing on it, so releasing this on it would help grow the brand on Xbox and pretty much guarantee more KH3 sales. The only reason I can think that isn't "lol Japanese domestic company bias" is that the projected numbers are so low they don't think a port would be able to recoup the costs (and, considering how 2.5 was far from a best seller, this may be the reason).

I still think any mainline releases from here on will be multi-platform, due to reasons stated above.

I think this is a good collection for the transition.  Had they done it with 1.5 or 2.5, people definitely would not have been happy. Because there's so much new content on this collection, they probably decided PS4 would be the best route to go.

Nope, I have a PS4 so I don't mind that its only PS4. :P

So what you're saying is you DON'T want a KH3 demo? Sorry dude, but the vast majority of us do, you'll have to get a PS4 anyways for KH3, may as well suck it up for this.

You said it right there, old, why would they want to use old assets when they could use a new style and new engine, the same engine that is being used for Kingdom Hearts 3, for a new type of game all together

Sure it may be set for FFXV.

Cause the PS3 can enjoy it too. But it is alright they know people will then be ready for KH3 with a PS4.
