Yeah it is. I can't say anymore without giving spoilers for χ, but suffice it to say, just like in Kairi'do grandmother's story Kingdom Hearts is where there true light sleeps.

Kingdom Hearts is the heart of all worlds, so I think it's made up of light and darkness like most other hearts.

Though the KH1 ending implies (or actually just shows) Kingdom Hearts is full of light, all other instances of it showing up have not given any further information. So it might just purposefully have been left vague. The only thing we really know is that it's a very good source of power, which is why people crave to possess it so much.

so it doesn't have to do with 7 light and 13 darkness from the X-blade

No, the X-Blade is its counterpart. It's the object that unlocks Kingdom Hearts.

so at first i though this was going to be in the Random section as a joke or something

but here's my answer anyways

There is a connection but more than that I cannot say because spoilers

If it is full of light, I wonder if there is a dark version of Kingdom Hearts.

Back in the ancient times of the "fairy tale" world, the worlds were one large world that was bathed in the great Light of Kingdom Hearts. But eventually many of the people of the world grew greedy and began to fight each other over possession of the Light, creating Darkness in their hearts, as well as creating the Heartless. Eventually it got so bad that nearly everything was consumed by the Darkness, including Kingdom Hearts. The only light that remained came from the hearts of children, which was used to restore the lost world. Instead of one large world, the worlds were all separated from each other to prevent such a conflict from ever happening again. However, the true Light of Kingdom Hearts was forever trapped in the Darkness, alluding to the whole theme of "no matter how deep the darkness, there's always a light that shines within".

That's where the legend comes from, but while I feel it's been pretty vague in the series, I can see two possible answers.

1. Kingdom Hearts is made up of both Light and Darkness (or at least has become made of both). Kingdom Hearts can often be thought as a conglomerate of hearts. If the hearts of men have changed to have both light and darkness inside them, then it can be thought that Kingdom Hearts does as well, especially considering how it's true state has been trapped in the Darkness all these years. It might have immense Darkness within it, but it still has a large amount of Light. Kingdom Hearts is also said to be the source of all things, and since Darkness is just as natural as anything else, it can be said that it comes from Kingdom Hearts as well.

Or

2. Kingdom Hearts IS pure Light and it is just trapped in the purest most ancient form of Darkness. While the legend could be saying how Darkness exists in every heart, Kingdom Hearts being the largest heart, but no matter what there is still a strong Light shining within, it could also be referring to how the true Kingdom Hearts remains trapped within the great Darkness. This would then make Kingdom Hearts itself the literal "Light within the Darkness". If that is what is being said, then maybe it can be made out of pure Light.

It's kind of confusing to figure out, as it's exact nature isn't explicitly covered in full detail throughout the entire series, other than that it is a great source of power that could be used to shape the very nature of reality itself. The X-Blade that is used to open Kingdom Hearts is made of a balance of both Light and Darkness, but when that balance is matched up, it has no direct affiliation, other than pure unbiased power. If the X-Blade and Kingdom Hearts are supposed to be connected to each other in a key and lock kind of relationship, then perhaps the same can be assumed of Kingdom Hearts in that in its whole it is a balance of Light and Darkness, pure power. It holds the potential to be pure Light or pure Darkness, but if it could be exploited by either, than it might not be exclusive to either side. It would have to be pure power in order for the people to enjoy its Light or the Heartless to seek its Darkness. At this point, I feel like it's still a bit vague of an answer, as while various versions of Kingdom Hearts have been used to serve different purposes, one of them to act as the Door to Darkness (not necessarily the Darkness of Kingdom Hearts, but rather the Darkness of the Realm of Darkness), each of them have had slightly different natures affiliated with that purpose, and so far none of them have been confirmed to be the "true" Kingdom Hearts, they're all facsimiles. Perhaps the true answer will be revealed in either KHX or KH3, but until then it's just kind of ambiguous. At least, in my opinion.

It's true what Sora says then.

Kingdom Hearts is not light...

It's a 13 year old game, from which a massive franchiese has been raised.

Sora said it is light, so I guess it is?

This right here is the answer to your question, OP.

I like your ideas, they all seem possible and it make sense. Thanks!

Yes because we have seen it as light in multiple titles.
