Im sure some of you remember, but for those who dont, a while back it was revealed that there was a Kingdom Hearts cartoon in the works, but then it got canned and never to be seen again.

Well, the guy who revealed this recently uploaded a Color Board of what was gonna be the cartoon.

With it, he said this:

This is all I have been able to find.  My sister insists that she has a DVD of the animatic somewhere but she hasn't been able to find it yet.  Looking back, I wish I could fix every single one of these drawings, but I still think this would have been bad ass.  When they get to Agrabah, I boarded it so I could use original backgrounds from Aladdin that I was able to get copies of from the Disney Archive.  So...when Riku grabs the lamp and suddenly becomes possessed by Maleficent, it's the same background as when Aladdin first grabs the lamp in the movie.

Woulda/coulda/shoulda been cool.  Maybe they'll do it at some point but just to head off some of the frequently asked questions, I have no control of this project.  It's completely owned by Disney.  I just directed and boarded the animatic pilot.

With that stuff out of the way, here is the actual board, and a fair warning, its pretty big.

This looks pretty damn cool, although the drawings could definitely have turned out better!  In some of the panels, the characters looked a bit too weird, but hey, the guy did his work!  But if Kingdom Hearts were ever to have an animated adaption, I'd love for it to be in the hand drawn style used in the earlier Disney films, especially those of the Renaissance Era!  The series would undoubtedly be something beautiful!  That, or an awesome anime adaption would be great as well!  But, in the end, it's up to Disney, ya know?

Kairi is such badass . Would have loved for this to be adapted. Oh well maybe in the future

Ohhhh now I wish so much that this had been a thing, I'd have loved to watch a Kingdom Hearts cartoon, but maybe when the saga is over they'll adapt the whole series.

Even if the cartoon was finished, wait until Riku see's the real Maleficent. Even the Riku from the games learned that Maleficent isn't trustworthy the hard way.

Wow, that looks cool! If only they could make a movie of KH3 or a show based off of the games that tells more than what the games explain.

Oh that's awesome, I heard they were possibly toying with the idea of an animated series ages ago but I had no idea it even got to the animatic stage. It feels odd if it were to exist now, but im sure I would have felt differently and would probably accept it if it popped up in the future. It's such a huggge story, lots of potential. I love the portrayal of Kairi too.
