If you needed any more proof handheld gaming is dying

Posted

The talented folks at Square Enix Montreal just won best mobile/handheld game at The Game Awards 2015 with Lara Croft Go. Zero handheld titles were nominated.

I think Nintendo will still make a push for handheld gaming, but overall I would agree that the handheld market is pretty much a market of the past at this point.

Good fix.

Last I checked, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate was nominated. Handheld gaming isn't dying any time soon.

That's why the rumour is NX is a hybrid.

The keyword is rumor. Nothing's confirmed. I can already imagine problems that would come up with a hybrid, anyway.

Eh, you never know. I'd personally love something like that. Wasn't that kind of the point that handheld gaming was supposed to reach towards in the first place anyway?

I count 25 3DS games in 2015 for Japan with one them being exclusive to the new model and that appears certain to be the only game to actually take advantage of the improved specs.

What proof? I see no proof? :P

The fact that mobile games have exceeded handheld games in terms of quality.

Mate you were on it like a car bonnet! xD Also like, I can see that, it was a joke... Not a very good one but still

I hope it never dies. I personally would prefer to buy my child a DS over a stupid tablet. More control over what he/she does and with the 3DS Activity Log, I can more or less monitor what my child does on the system. Very few people see that handheld consoles are a better choice for kids. Also more cybersafe.

Last I checked Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate was on the 3DS.

Also, some stupid Game Awards category doesn't equal proof that handheld gaming is dying. That is idiotic to think such a thing. Mobile games and Handheld games should have been separated. They weren't so naturally the category comes across as an afterthought.

I'm not trying to knock Lara Croft GO, I haven't played the game, but once again Sora96 you are really showing your Square Enix fanboyism as per usual.
