Should kingdom hearts 3 allow you to change the difficultly while you're playing the game?

I think it should. This would help the people who want to have fun with the game instead of getting frustrated in parts of the game that they feel like are hard to them?

I think it would be interesting to implement. Someone could do what you suggested if they're struggling, or someone could up the difficulty if they feel like it's too easy.

On the other hand, having something like that would remove the significance that the difficulty levels have had for most of the other games (and as BlankShell kinda possibly implied, it would make difficulty trophies useless). Also, one could argue that having that option would be a disservice to players, as they could just turn down the difficulty instead of overcoming the obstacle in their way. I mean, you could just not change the difficulty, but having that option there could be tempting for some. (Then again, maybe more casual people couldn't care less about all that. Idk.)

And now I'm kinda rambling.

So, it isn't really a bad idea imo, but would Square actually do it? Eh, probably not. They don't really have much of an incentive since there's already Standard mode.

Nah. There's no point. If you want to make the bosses easy, you should start with the easier difficulty. That would be like cheating on a test.

i guess it wouldn't hurt but i don't really see the point. you don't pick Hard or Critical thinking it's going to be a breeze. if you go into Critical Mode and find a boss challenging then it's probably because...well...you picked Critical mode.

Yes they should. If someone were to go in on proud mode, find a boss frustrating, and can't pass it they'll be able to go down to normal rather than have to start the entire game over.

Why not? It's not really a big deal for me, but I think it would encourage more people to try beat the game on higher difficulty. But if you want to, you could still stay on the same difficulty level the whole game.

No.

this kind of thing is in tales of xillia 1 and 2, so that's why I asked the question. when I was struggling through a boss battle in xillia 2, I lowered the difficultly level so that I can have more fun with the boss, instead of struggling through it

I wouldn't want to say no, but the only KH game I didn't really like (Re: Coded) is the only one that has this feature. Maybe that's one of the reasons. Also, if you can change difficulty it's harder for the developers to do some things like: being able to unlock the secret scene in Proud/Critical mode, having half HP in Critical mode,  having EXP=0 only in Critical Mode, etc.

I see your point. I wouldn't mind if they didn't add the changing of difficulty, while playing the game, in the game because I've gotten used to not changing it in the KH games.

Just like in The World Ends With You! Finally someone gets it! Or better yet, also similar to Re:Coded! Haha! You're a genius! xD

Rock on!

I agree. It would ruin the experience of a game to constantly change the difficulty. Besides, they never really did it before for KH so there is no point now.

you don't have to change it if you don't want to so...

Then there would be no reason to have it if that's the case. If you want to face the bosses on an easier mode, then choose it. If you want to face them on a harder mode, then choose that mode.

but what if you pick hard mode and then you have trouble on a certain boss? if they added that feature, I would turn the difficulty down because I DON'T want to end up hating the game because it's too hard or because I'm not up for the challenge yet. That exactly what I did to a boss in Tales of Xillia 2 and I was glad.

You learn. Quite simple. If you remain in your comfort zone all the time, then you won't ever get better. By the way, don't make it about your concerns just so you know. Just because you can't seem to defeat a boss doesn't mean you should hate it. The way you learn is you look at how other people play, take notes, try it out. That's how I managed to defeat Terra-Xehanort. You can't remain in your comfort zone in life. You'll never get better and you cheat you.

It would be ok adding it, but make so you wouldn't get the trophy for critical unless you played through the whole game on critical. Honestly I'm fine with how it is just go through on standard or proud for the story, and then go critical when I'm just wanting to play for trophies.

If i can't beat a boss I usually just go, and level up a bit more.

sorry if this may sound immature, but I honestly don't want to learn anything, if I'm not having fun with a game. I don't want to frustrate myself to the point where I feel like rage quiting

I think that being able to toggle difficulty would actually make grinding a little weird and unbalanced for the game. If you find an area with enemies you can defeat relatively easy, crank it up to Hard mode and reap the Hard EXP, then switch the difficulty back to normal, you're kind of going to reach a point where you are defying any and all reasonable expectations of rising challenge.

some people want to have fun by not having any challenge though, not dying over and over again and plus, it works perfectly in some games(the xilla games and recoded are perfect examples.

But if people don't want a challenge, why not just start the game on easy mode and then just keep it that way?

If you're not wanting any difficulty then you should just play on the normal or easy difficulty, simple as that. I always play normal on my first playthrough because my first is for the story, and I'm not wanting to ruin story progression by repeatedly dying. If you don't feel you're able to go through the harder difficulties then don't choose them until you've gotten more used to the game.

Then you will pay in life. You either grow up and move forward or fall behind and be left behind. No one will take care of you or coddle you. I most certainly wouldn't and won't. Maybe you need to learn patience too. The decision to not learn anything and remain ignorant is a sin actually. That however is between you and God, but I have learned through my faith that ignorance on purpose is a sin. Keep that in mind.Overall, nothing will be given and nothing will be easy and if you decide to not face that battle and be a man about it, then you will lose and fall behind. That is life. So with KH3, there won't be an option to change the mode. Choose your mode carefully. If you end up facing a boss that seems hard, then work at it and try to beat it in any way you can think of. Take notes from watching how other people fight it.. If you are inconvenienced, too bad, suck it up and be a man. Only you can make your experience bad or good, not the game.

I guess your right. When I said that, I meant for games in general.

Stay on topic dude! xD You made this topic so stay on it! If you wanted to talk about games in general, then you should have made a topic in the video games section, not KH3. xD
