A couple of months ago, i remember SE saying that the villain for FFXV would top all the previous villains (http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Final-Fantasy-XV-Villain-Top-All-Other-Final-Fantasy-Villains-76607.html)

Although we saw the ruler of Nifelheim and Izunia, as well as Aranea, I think there could be one more, final true villain that SE are keeping until we play the game for ourselves. Imagine fighting the guys I just named as end game or close to end game bosses? They don't seem that intimidating or scary.

Well, if you look closely, the enemies in the Niflheim Base Battle footage are about Level 6 which I'd imagine is quite and early-game level. This would lead me to believe that the villains we've seen are not as intimidating or scary as what the end-game villains will be.

For now Iedolas is main antagonist but yeah there's probably someone else behind the scenes

All I know is that the very last form of the very last boss, will be in a place that's so mindblowing and so different than anything else we've seen in the game. It's almost like a tradition really.

Final Fantasy XV takes place in the Kingdom Hearts universe confirmed

Think about bosses like Sephiroth at the end of FF7, or Kefka's final form or even Braska's final aeon, could you imagine any of the confirmed villains in that sort of form? They just don't seem like it.

I feel like Square has fallen into the Broly trap, where they believe a villain's quality is based on how super special awesome powerful they are, rather than if they're just a good character.

Power is important for a villain, how should we fear a villain if they are extremely weak? Villains are supposed to be powerful.

watch it be a "giant space flea from nowhere" kind of boss

So... Jenova?

Yeah, but this whole thing of "OMG, my villain is the best because he's sooooo powerful, y'all other villains can't touch him!" reeks of trying too hard. Like, if you have to stress before hand that he/she is more powerful than all the past villains, then it feels like they want to convince us that they have the best villain, rather than just letting the player decide for themselves. It almost becomes a fanfic level of writing, where you're only bringing up past characters just to brag about how much better you are than them. It's lame. They might as well just say "My dad can beat up your dad."

Besides, if the character still sucks, no amount of super special awesome power is going to make it a good villain.

The ruler of Nifelheim is the true villain. I mean, the story goes that Nifelheim attacks Lucis while they are negotiating peace. The ruler is the villain we see threatening Regis Lucis Caelum CXIII with a gun in one trailer. He is Iedolas Aldercapt, ruler of Nefelheim.

So... Jenova?

or Necron from FFIX

I'm sure there would be someone else as a final boss.
