Just as a little bit of personal information before I say anything, I'm not Islamic, I'm agnostic

I was born in Wales (UK) and I class myself as Indian (Indian mother, father born in Africa with Indian/African parents. Therefore, I have brown skin of course .

 

As some of you may know I live in Britain, I was born here.

 

I just recently that PEGIDA are campaigning across Europe against Islamic folk and immigrants, if you live in the UK you may know about Britain First and i think there are a few similar groups to these in the USA. These white supremacists want to kick out and/or ban all Muslims and stop Syrian refugees on the basis that they are 'terrorists'. 

 

On Britain first's facebook page (Anti Islam group) they stated that the refugees are wimps and should go back to Syria to fight...

 

 However, there are a share of Islamic hate preachers and supporters of ISIS and extremism which shouldn't be allowed in the UK IMO. 

 

But these groups like BF and PEGIDA don't understand that supporters of extremism and ISIS are in the minority. They think that just because they were born here they have more rights than those who come in. Which I find quite selfish, I was listening to the radio and a politician said: 

 

"The government always take care of the outsiders but not their own"

Followed by applause.

 

It's so easy for a wealthy stuck up politician or even a middle class person to say that. We've been taken care of our whole lives, when have these people ever been in a situation like those Syrian refugees? It's a piece of land, that's it, you have no right to claim this country as yours. No one does, granted we can't just open our borders to every single person. Being born in a country doesn't automatically give you the right to decide who is allowed in and who isn't.

 

Being born in a country means little, you don't deserve any special privileges, you didn't even decide where you were born!  Being patriotic is great, but you should also be hospitable to other cultures and people from countries.

Then you have people claiming "Syrians should go back to Syria"

Of course, they have to be checked in case there are possible terrorists, but the reality of what's going on in Syria is something that most of us middle class and wealthy people who've been living comfy our whole lives, is incomprehensible.

 

If you don't know, in the UK there are 2.8 million Muslims. They make up about 5-6% of the British population, given in mind those stats were from 2011 (last UK census), I doubt there's been a HUGE increase. As you can see, the Islamic population here is tiny, in Europe, the whole population is around 750 million, the entire Muslim population of Europe is around 65 million approximately. Muslims make up less than 10% of Europe! There's no mass invasion of Europe by Muslims like some people are saying.

 

The British empire colonised India and ended up killing tons of people, Europeans slaughtered the native Americans and almost wiped them out. The UK government and the USA have ended up killing loads of innocents in the Middle East. It's not like our countries are perfect, in fact the west has probably killed more innocent Islamic folk in their home countries, than the Islamic terrorists have killed people in the western world.

 

Obviously i'm not condoning what ISIS and other Islamic terrorist groups have done to the west, but we aren't exactly perfect either. 

 

These anti immigration movements are spreading ignorance, a multi cultural society is great and always will be. Like I said, we can't be 100% open to every single person, but stopping all immigration and removing all immigrants is stupid. I agree with most people that want hate preachers and ISIS supporters to be removed from the UK,but those people are in the minority. Plus, society usually deals with them. The problem is when people think that extremists represent all people of that particular culture.

 

Just a bit of information, to my knowledge the Islamic holy book- the Qur'an, actually has 2 types of verses. (Correct me if I'm wrong). Independent verses can be applied to any situation, but dependent verses must be read within the context of the Qur'an. People that quote the Qur'an and try to make Muslims look bad, usually pick the dependent verses, not the independent ones. 

 

The reason I'm scared is because this ignorance is spreading to my own country. In fact, next month there will be a total white supremacy rally in a city JUST 20 minutes away from my house. The thing is, these anti immigration and anti Islam groups assume that all Muslims are extremists or terrorists. Let me break down their logic:

"Brown Skin=Muslim=Terrorist" 

These groups are extremely stupid, they assume that brown skin means you are a Muslim and since they believe all Muslims are evil, anyone with brown skin could get harassed. I worry about my family and myself, these groups also resort to violence sometimes which is even worse. It's just a concern I have. I don't want to walk down a street and be mocked or have my family be harassed either. 

 

I just have really opinionated and strong views on these things because I've been a victim of some racist things and so has my father. I can't stand seeing other groups being mistreated and generalised.

 

What do you guys think? I'd like to know

 

Also, please don't assume I hate white people or anything ludicrous, I've been surrounded by whites my whole life and my best friends are white. I just hate this whole white supremacist idea that some people are trying to enforce.  I love all my brothers and sisters on this earth, regardless of what you look like or where you are from.

These points are the worst imo. Just because you're a Muslim doesn't mean you're a terrorist. To think that is just stupid. It's even worse when people assume you're a terrorsit just because of your skin color.

I can understand that many people now are afraid of terrorists attacks, I am too, but this is just bullsh*t. 

Disgusting. They have to accept that not everyone born in Syria is a terrorist. They should just campaign to get every civilian out of that hellhole, why can't some realize that we are all part of the same race, no matter what country, color or language you have?

The ignorance of some people astound me. Like shinobi, I'm also from the UK, and I am a Muslim, and yeah, I have been called racist things. It's a just a fact of life that you accept, it's wrong but what can you do? I was lucky enough to go to school in the more multicultural parts of London, where there is a pretty even split of ethnic groups and white people. I hardly experienced any racism there, because in the more multicultural areas of London and probably the rest of the country, people get along, and they know that extremists are just that: extremists. In fact, in the predominantly white area where I reside now, people are less tolerant, which is ironic, considering that it's a middle class area, and they're supposed to be well educated, but anyone from greater London can tell you that it's not a very rich area.

 

The most ironic thing? The communities where the migrants are likely to stay are not even gonna be anywhere near middle class areas, and the way the media handle this disgusts me. Just today at work I was selling a newspaper called the daily mail, and the front page was so unbelievably biased against Syrians.

 

These people are running for their lives, they are genuinely in fear of death,while your biggest problem is wondering what you're gonna wear tomorrow! And Britain can absolutely afford to take them in, at least in proportion to our population. Ther are so many boarded up houses and sometimes whole estates lying round in bureaucratic limbo, when you could actually open them up and use it as council housing for them. There are so many solutions but people just like to complain.

Well, by those people's logic, since I'm Asian, I have to be a ninja that believes in bringing honor to his family.

They should not be brought into the U.S because the terrorists could easily infiltrate them. Besides, we have no clue who these people are. That's why they should be in safe zones there in Syria. They don't want to leave their country and so they should not go or be forced to go where they don't want to. The homeland secure must be priority number one. What you said is a bit harsh... but I agree with you.  We don't know who these people are, and Isis themselves have stated multiple times that they are having their members disguise themselves as refugees so that it'll be easier for them to get to the U.S. and Europe.  And I can't help but be wary that the majority of refugees are men between the ages of 18 and 40; there aren't too many women or children coming over.  There aren't many refugees coming over that are religious minorities either, and they're the ones being attacked over there the most.  I've also heard of many women in Europe (particularly in Germany and Sweden) being attacked and raped by refugees.  That is frightening!

 

Like you said, it might sound like hate and xenophobia, but protecting our own citizens comes first!  Like my therapist tells me all the time: you have to help and care for yourself before you can help and care for others, or you'll just make yourself sick.  In this case, its helping and caring for your own people.  And while most refugees are innocent, there's a reason for the saying 'one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch.'

Before I say this, I am NOT pro-anti-immigration. In fact I am very strongly against anti-immigration. However, I live in Scotland, and we are expected to get, I believe 1,000 Syrian refugees? Which is all well and good, if not for the fact that they are getting private, luxury accommodation, while people who were born and bred in the country are homeless, some selling their body to people for money, some stealing, some begging, just to stay alive for another day. Now I'm going to reiterate, I am not pro-anti-immigration. But I feel, as a nation, in order to help others, we must be able to help ourselves first. Go ahead, argue my point if you want, I know there will be people who will strongly disagree with me, and that's alright. There's no right or wrong answer, there's only opinions.

 

Also for the fact of the Scottish government underspending their budget by £831,000,000 in the last year that could have been used on our own, the health service, etc. I'm not saying don't help the Syrian refugees, by all means do, more lives is better than less. But if they're going to help refugees, they should be helping their own homeless as well.

Sadly, that's how the world is man... I just wish people will accept others as a human being instead of an enemy of the world. 

It makes me sick when people judge others by the color of their skin, and their ethnicity. Pretty much give them heck as they are trying to survive in this world, getting jobs, food in their mouths, clothes on their back, good education, etc.  

 

Not all people are bad. There are some good people in the world with common sense.  But yet, some people out there are just too blinded by their ignorance....

 

That's like saying that I'm black and I should act black and do things that black people do in real life. 

Yeah I'm black, and just because I'm black doesn't mean a darn thing. 

I don't attempt to do harm to others in any kind of way, I don't do drugs nor drink, I don't join gangs, and other things people think what black folks do. 

 

As a black woman, I consider myself an outcast to others, of how I was raised.

It's long been known that the UK government loves to dump refugees in Scotland just so that the precious Westminster will never have to deal with the problem. It's completely unfair and I realise that most of the powers that the government used has been devolved (I think). Also, the fact that we have a tory government right now means that the state's not gonna be caring for anyone for the next four years
