We're a friendly bunch. Many of us like to sit around speculating the future of the series while theorizing on how the details piece together. We're good for answering basic questions and giving our best guess at stuff that isn't confirmed. Hope you enjoy your stay!
-
The helpful irony is, Birth by Sleep is kind of a 'prequel'. So nothing else will make sense, but all along you'll be going "Oh, what is this? That's familiar? Huh?" ...meanwhile, the rest of us thought nothing of it at the time. It's why I feel like replaying everything now, to see how the pieces fit together. The series is more complex than it looks. We ask/answer a lot of questions here at KH13. We also speculate the future and theorize on the details. And best of all, this is a great place to hang out waiting for the newest news on the next game. =3

I wouldn't consider hearts male or female, they're just hearts, regardless of what gender has one. Just because he was made from a male heart that doesn't mean, to me, that he wouldn't become female if Sora had helped Ven. In particular, I'd like to bring up that it works something like this: Ven didn't have darkness to balance himself, so Sora became his darkness. On that token, wouldn't Sora have become Vanitas' light, in a magnetic sort of way? If Sora had been female, Ven's darkness would have been female, and that might have reflected on Vanitas. It's still a really silly question and one without a solid answer. It'd be possible, though. If one wanted to write a cracky fanfic where Sora was female, I wouldn't see why they couldn't make Vanitas female as well, even if they wanted to leave Ven male. It's still only a 'what if' scenario. (I'd imagine it to be somewhat like Yubel from Yugioh GX, in the Japanese version they had two actors do 'her' voice, one male and one female, at the same time.) As for Xion... As with any person who you're not sure on gender, it's best to just refer to them how they and their close friends refer to them. It's the polite thing to do. http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/happy.png;

How long do you think it should take to beat a great video game?
ssceles replied to Lu Xun's topic in Poll of the Week
We all play games at different rates. What takes one person 40 hours may take another person half the time. I probably clocked 60 hours into Kingdom Hearts 1 the first time through and beat it the second time in about 10 because I no longer got lost. Sometimes the frustration and complication is half the fun, though. -
There we go. Here's a link to it on deviantart: http://ssceles.devia...entry-285642867 If you want me to take the picture out of the post because it's large and whatnot, I can. ^__^;;

Perhaps he just needs him to not wake up. Ever.

Is it alright if it's not in color? I don't know if I'll have time to color my entry... I might forget, too.

I might. =3 I draw straight pairings just as often as I draw shonen-ai ones and I have no problem with people wanting to only be exposed to straight pairings because they don't want to be made to feel uncomfortable. On the other hand, I grew uncomfortable because of the extra note because the contest had nothing to do with pairings. Had it to do with pairings to begin with, and then asked for straight pairings only, I would have been fine. I just found it slightly absurd. (It's not like if it had been a contest about straight only Axel pairings that I would have demanded to be allowed gayness in. It'd be hard to do a contest like that, anyway. Larxene's scary, and Xion and Namine both seem so young. I'm not even an AkuRoku fan. It'd just be easier to have a 'Axel hanging out with his friends' contest at that point with an extra note to 'keep it clean'.)
-
=P If you're asking for just Axel and already stating no pairings, you didn't need to go back emphasis 'no gay stuff'. It's highly offensive to me. It's unnecessary to even have that statement there. If you want to be a bigot go do it on your own time, thanks. As such, this lesbian will not be participating. So by saying 'no gay stuff' I'm going to take that as, me, not being straight, shouldn't participate anyway.Thanks for discriminating and have a nice day. edit: conflict resolved, yay =3

KH3D Kingdom Hearts 3D box artwork revealed
ssceles replied to JTD95's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
I hope I'm not the only one who turned my screen upside down to see it the other direction. -
After dealing with re:CoM... I think they should definitely keep Haley. As much as I hated hearing an older Sora coming out of his KH1 body, there was absolutely nothing that could be done about it. Keep in mind that the Japanese voice actor is -also- aging. While the Sora in Dream Drop Distance is younger looking, he's still the same old Sora.
-
Incidentally, I don't think Xehanort's Heartless, aka, 'Ansem', had the body we know him to have whatsoever before he got control of Riku. Prior to that he was just hunched under over old brown cloak. He 'magically' manifested that body we see him using, probably because it was an 'ideal' form for him to have, at the prime of his life. Why would he want to be old? Why does he appear young in the dream world? Well, even Sora and Riku appear younger there, don't they? And yet to see Master Xehanort as his older self in the opener, with Sora and Riku as their KH2 selves? Oh yes, it could mean something. Or it could just be pretty visuals. {{Why do some people see nothing but a doll when they look at Xion, while others see a girl? Why did Xigbar see Ventus? Why did Roxas see Sora after Xion mentioned his name? Because her looks are completely arbitrary. I've got some personal speculation with no valid reasoning to back it up, but it'd be interesting to see it proven true. What if the 'new' Xehanort is an equally composite being whose appearance changes based on whom he is interacting with? If this is the case, then I'd also basically be saying he's not the 'real' Xehanort, either, but a artificial decoy as a distraction, not much different than Repliku in CoM. Sora and Riku don't know the old MX, so they see someone their age.}}

What did you think of 2012's first interview related to KH3D?
ssceles replied to Lu Xun's topic in Poll of the Week
You and everyone else who thought that. It's pretty cool, I admit. I had hoped it was some for of Xehanort, too. I'm also curious about this bit: Enemies with hearts of pure light? If that's not an amazingly mistranslated piece of text... then that means I called that, too. Light enemies. Finally. -
His looks are deceptive, aren't they? I've tried to ask people if they though he might pretend to be a good guy and befriend Sora, but they just can't see it happening. If I were him, I'd take advantage of my youth and beguile someone as naive as Sora with friendship, definitely. As far as the Guardian goes, I do believe that is Master Xehanort's Heartless. It appeared inside of Terra when Master Xehanort removed his own heart, and had full control over Terra's body, much like "Ansem" had control of Riku in KH1. There are, of course, two types of Heartless: Purebloods, which kind of 'are' the essence of the heart's darkness, and Emblems, which are nothing but synthetic, living, containers that hold captured hearts, which are released as they defeated by a Keyblade. Purebloods do not release hearts. "Ansem", or, as he was finally called, Xehanort's Heartless, is what I actually believe to be a blend of Xehanort's Pureblood Heartless, which would be the Guardian from earlier, and Terra, who has been more or less transformed into nothing but a container. Similarly, Emblem Heartless are containers that hold hearts. This makes, in my mind, what's left of Terra to be an 'Emblem' Heartless. There's no exact science to any of it, and it's all speculation. "Ansem" may be both Emblem and Pureblood because he is both Terra and Xehanort, basically.

So MegaUpload got shut down. If MediaFire goes down, will the future of the video files be in the form torrents?
-
MediaFire is different. MegaUpload also had some money stuff going on which was a large factor in their take down.
-
I'm pretty sure that Megaupload has had ongoing legal issues, and they weren't very co-operative about it. Pretty sure MediaFire doesn't have the same problems going on.

Ha, I actually do agree with this. Xehanort turned on them and they're all still so buddy-buddy with him. It's a little funny. So I really don't know what is going on. There are different types of memory... short term, long term, knowledge only, need-to-know basis memories that can be reawakened by seeing or experiencing familiar things. I do agree their memories aren't all there, and I DO think that Xehanort is the reason that Organization XIII exists at all, but not necessarily his own actions being why they were transformed. That has yet to be seen as not all the members could have appeared just because they were stabbed - Xigbar found Marluxia after the original six were already Nobodies, and Xemnas doesn't appear to still wield the Keyblade to have been able to 'create' these new recruits in any special way.
-
Only Xemnas himself seems to have trouble remembering any of his past, but even he can remember Ansem the Wise. Saix basically explains the reason they can manipulate others' hearts so well is because they remember what it's like, which is stark contrast to Xemnas saying he doesn't remember what having a heart was like. Saix and Axel also remember eachother's friendship. To top that all off, Xigbar remembers Ventus, as he sees Xion take his form once during 358/2 Days. Basically, that's the only problem that I have with what you're saying. I don't think anyone lost their memories just because they were stabbed. AX/Terranort is a special case. I get where you're going with this, as Sora was also stabbed, but I don't think that alone is the reason why Roxas doesn't remember who he is. Because, technically speaking, Roxas also contains parts of Ventus, making who he really is just ambiguous as Xemnas, which would definitely cause some memory problems.
-
Indeed. We have no idea why he looks the way he is, let alone exactly who he is. Then again, Xehanort is Xehanort is Xehanort, and even if he wasn't, he'd still somehow be Xehanort. Possibly. Maybe Master Xehanort isn't even really Master Xehanort. *gasp* Just like Riku wasn't Riku for the end of KH1, really, it's hard to tell with this series. It's hard to believe that a human alone could be so rotten as Master Xehanort, so if, in the end, the real enemy is something much older than MX, and doesn't even go by the name Xehanort, I wouldn't be surprised. Ansem wasn't Ansem, afterall. Names and looks are arbitrary, it's true, but until we know otherwise: He's Xehanort. Where, how, or if Terra is at all connected to the younger dream Xehanort is a total mystery. For now, it's safe to assume what you see at face value. If we get blown away with what's really going on, that's half the fun of it. If there's something deeper going on, we just don't know about it yet.

Be sure and do something that's supported by as many browsers as possible. (LOL, actually, I'm sure it's not a problem anymore these days, not many people are using ancient computers with nothing but old versions of IE, and even if they were, the top links would work the same as always and they could eventually get where they wanted to go all the same.) Still, there may be fancier and newer scripts that pull of the same effect in a 'cooler' way that still might not have full support across all browsers. It can still look nice and be incredible basic, so steer of anything that's too new, just in case. It's getting to be pretty old tech now, drop down menus, but they're always looking for new ways to do old things with less coding, and sometimes less is not more if it just breaks for half the viewers. All in all, go for it! I think it'd be neat and I trust your judgement and coding abilities. <3

KH3D Kingdom Hearts 3D in Famitsu Weekly, HQ scans & interview
ssceles replied to DChiuch's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
Unconventional for the series would be, ironically, a good ending. KH1 - cliffhanger, CoM - sleep lol, Days - ..........seriously? Birth by Sleep - wow. KH2 - the only good ending. That just makes me seriously wonder what the original ending was supposed to be like. Something bad happen to Sora or Riku? -
While I'd love for many of those things to happen, realistically, the best I can hope for is Chain of Memories in the eShop and possibly a KH3 trailer next fall/winter at TGS/Jump Festa. So, I think those most likely to happen, but neither could happen at all. =| Depends on how sucky a year it is. And while I'd love for a KH1 remake, I don't think it's on their* priorities list or mine. {{Watch people complain when KH1 gets remade but not FF7.}} *by this I mean that they're all going 'That'd be a great idea!' but no ones actually scrambling to get off their butts to do it, y'know?
-
.....and now you guys are acting like the two secret endings are for two separate games. The final mix version of the original's secret ending has never been meant for an entirely different game any of the other times this has happened before so that's quite an assumption you guys have there. If it had any validity, I say, yeah, okay, reConnect was reCoded, yay, lol, moving on. Why can't both secret endings ALL revolve around this one game? You just think it's a filler game? re:Coded was the filler game, guys. =/ Nomura already explained it, comparing it to Chain of Memories, leading up to the next game. Dream Drop Distance IS that next game. It's bigger than you think, even if it isn't the end-all-be-all. Things might not be so simple. We have to resolve problems in this game we didn't even know existed until now (just like in KH2 with the Nobodies). In the next major installment it should be the same way. A problem we don't already know about. A problem we haven't been handed in the secret ending.
-
I agree with the OP. Seriously, guys: Birth by Sleep Volume 2 isn't going to be a title for a game any more than Deep Dive, Another Side/Another Story or Sunset Horizons was. It's covered several things that are going to get covered in this game, and I think the appearance of young Xehanort proves that alone. Then again Deep Dive indeed brought us to KH2, but was better covered in the (much) later 358/2 Days. There are things in there that won't be covered until KH3, I'm sure. (In the end, I'm just going to say I was upset by this secret ending on a whole... simply because it wasn't in their awesometastic amazing graphics. I'm equally disappointed we didn't get a full opening for Birth by Sleep, and they just reused footage from the last secret ending.) But I have always, always thought the idea we'd ever have a game called "Birth by Sleep Volume 2" stupid. I mean, that doesn't even sound original. I mean, why aren't we all going "OMG, the next game must be called Zero Point or Blank Point!" . . . no. Really. Why aren't we? It sounds far better.

Yeah, watching that movie right now. Had to show your post to my friend, because those are her same sentiments, exactly.
