During a recent livestream for Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura, who also works on Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis as creative director responded to fan comments about the latest status of Kingdom Hearts IV:
QuoteI'm seeing a lot of comments regarding Kingdom Hearts IV. We are making great strides and going according to schedule, so please wait for more information on that.
You can view the full livestream below, the mention of Kingdom Hearts IV starts at around 1:54:00

Thanks a lot for your response! Yeah a lot of thought and effort was put into this, and I've on numerous occasions debated whether I should finish the project. But I always leaned back on the assumption that at least a few people would probably find it interesting/entertaining, so that pushed me to finish it. And it was fun to do!
That is a great question! When drawing I often find the sketching phase to be the most fun; when you're still workshopping the idea. And the Hot Rod redesign was the one I struggled with the most and thus the one which yielded the most different sketches. So I believe in the end - despite the struggle - that one might've been the most fun to do!
Two others I was greatly pleased with were the Morning Star and the Fortuneteller. They saw some of the least drastic changes, but the smaller changes they did receive I felt made a world of difference, so I was quite satisfied with those!
That's interesting! Based on what you said in the video, I would have thought the Hot Rod might not have been too fun. All the Timeless River heartless did seem challenging, they're so specific to that particular world that I honestly wouldn't know where to start on how to re-design them so they might fit elsewhere. The Fortune Teller was interesting too, I didn't notice that it had a more specifically feminine design until you pointed it out, the re-color on that one looked quite nice too.
Hope you have as much fun with any future projects that might be in the works!

Some really cool re-designs in here! I think my favorites were the fiery globe and ice cube, they looked a lot cuter with your redraws! Also appreciate you outlining your process and the timeline for the entire project, looks like a lot of thought and effort went into it over quite a bit of time. Also neat that your re-draws match the aesthetic of what we might find in concept art/art books.
Curious to know if there was one you had the most fun with or were most satisfied with over the others. Thanks for sharing here with us.

Thanks for sharing in any case. To me it looks like fan art, which it probably unfortunately trained itself on.
Don’t want to derail the topic too much but GenAI is such an interesting topic to me - crazy to see how good it’s getting in such a short amount of time. But also brings up a lot of talking points around the ethical use/application of it all.

Thanks for writing up this theory, can tell that you put a lot of thought into it.
I'll preface my post by saying while I've played KHUx the main story was scattered so far apart between updates it's a bit of a blur for me to remember, same with KHDR, and with ML I haven't looked into the story leaks yet, even though I know they're floating around online. So just bear with me and help me fill in some gaps if I'm not understanding correctly. I'll do my best to add to this discussion.
So basically you're thinking that Brain is the Master of Master's. There's a few concepts I don't quite follow, where does the calamitous star and singularity come from? Also trying to understand where MoM would take Sora back to, and for what purpose. Brain never struck me as an antagonistic or shady character, and from what we know seems MoM will be the antagonist going into the next saga, so just seems interesting to me to have that revealed to be him.

yeah. it's a shame really
Yup, which is sad because I think there is a case and a discussion to be had about how Kairi's been handled as a character through the series so far. Everyone else here has brought up great points regardless of how they personally feel about the character but I guess, like FadedSparkle said, it's all a moot point with certain frames of thinking being brought into here.

so anyone who doesn't agree with your little conspiracy theory must hate her too? you need help
Yes that's exactly what they mean and they'll come back to tell you that's exactly what they mean too.
Logic and rational thinking go right through these types' heads, no room for nuanced discussion just screaming the loudest and labeling anyone who disagrees as wrong.

1. Games still in very early stages we don’t have enough info on it to even back this claim up.
2. This is the 5th or 6th topic you’ve made on the same issue. You need to just use the original thread that you made (which I’ll be consolidating this one into shortly) instead of turning every little thought about Kairi into a topic.
I like Kairi too (hell I have her as my pfp) and it’d be great if they could do more with her, but getting hysterical about it isn’t going to help people take you seriously. On a fansite dedicated to the series such as this one people are going to buy the game regardless because they’re that dedicated to the series.

We can hope but it's good to keep expectations low in these types of situations. Like Albert said, it's definitely a possibility, but we don't necessarily have any indications that it will be. I haven't personally kept up with other Square Enix titles all too much lately so hard to say on that front as well. A trailer would be nice and would keep the momentum going though.
I still stand by that the reason we got those screenshots was to soften the blow about Missing-Link, I think without that we probably would have seen them at a later time.
-
It's definitely possible! Summer Game Fest is right around the corner. Though, I'm actually not expecting anything and would only want them to show case trailers when they're ready. To me, releasing these screenshots felt more like a way to offset the news about Missing-Link's cancellation, and to keep fans' minds at ease that KH IV wouldn't meet the same fate.
I'm sure in time we'll get a trailer, and get to see other characters as well. As for multiplayer, also definitely possible, but we know so little about the game right now it's hard to say.
