Why wouldn't there be a Gen VIII...? Pokemon won't just end with this generation, people are saying that it will for no real reason. There's no reason for GameFreak to end the series now, it's still incredibly popular. Unless they make it a New 3DS exclusive (which they really should have done), it won't be. The original 3DS barely ran Sun and Moon in 2D.

I think the main point was to show off the game's portability since that's a huge bonus in Japan. You can play this anywhere with anyone, which should be a huge selling point out there (and everywhere else potentially).

The Switch is the successor to the Wii U, not the 3DS. Nintendo has said that the 3DS isn't dead yet and that they have a lot of games coming up for it still. Pokemon has primarily been a handheld series, Switch is a portable console so switching over to it (no pun intended) would take a lot of resources. Going from the 3DS to a full HD system is a huge jump and something that GameFreak's going to need time to work on.

@BlankShell Those reports were made up to get attention and the same person who spread them got a lot of other things entirely wrong, too. People should've realized Stars was fake after all the stuff she said would be featured in the January presentation wasn't there at all. People have been faking Nintendo leaks for years, it shouldn't be a surprise when they turn out to be fake at this point.

They don't make the games, though. Nintendo's not the one to blame for how the game's being developed. People were begging for a Pokken port up until the actual reveal, now everyone says it's something no one ever wanted. I saw a lot of requests for Pokken on the Switch, and now that it's here, everyone's furious. As for US/UM, it's the same thing that's been done with the series almost every generation. At this point, we've only seen a short teaser. It's the same engine, sure, but that doesn't mean that it's going to be a lazy cash-grab. The same thing could've been said about B2/W2.

US/UM are going to sell well anyway, so they didn't need as much focus. Pokken didn't do well on the Wii U, so focusing more on the Switch port will hopefully raise awareness and help with sales. The Switch has a lot of original games coming this year too, and people were begging for a Pokken port. Plenty of people, myself included, prefer G/S over the remakes. It's also been a huge request ever since Gen I came to VC.

Nintendo doesn't make these games, GameFreak does. Also, this shouldn't be a surprise. Black 2 and White 2 came out almost two years after the 3DS was released, those have become the most popular recent games. We've had evidence that we won't be getting a Switch Pokemon game for a few years now. GameFreak just recently opened job listings for what's clearly a Switch Pokemon game, and the opening's up until next summer. We won't be seeing a Switch game until Gen VIII.

As excited as I am for US/UM and Pokken DX, I know I'm really weird for being most excited for Silver on 3DS out of all the new Pokemon announcements.

That's my guess. The third iterations of each generation (Whether it's an enhanced version like Blue/Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Or Platinum; or sequels like W2/B2 and now US/UM) always focus on the third legendary in the main trio, Necrozma seemed to take that role for Gen VII.

Definitely! I really can't wait to see what all they're going to announce, especially with all this new Pokemon news.

The Stars rumor was started by someone who made up a lot of things to get attention, I really don't get why there was so much hype over it when there was no evidence behind it. It's just like the Pokemon Plus/Minus "leak" that people went crazy about a few years ago.

I can't wait to see the 3v3 mode! I really hope they show it off at E3 since we know that they're focusing a lot on the game.

The fans will win. The console war mindset's really irritating, this is all opinion-based and there isn't a factual "winner" of E3.

No problem! I'm thinking that they'll show more of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon at E3 since it was just a short teaser during today's Direct, but it looks like this one's going to have a focus on one of the hidden legendaries from Sun/Moon.

Pokemon Directs are always really short, it's just a way to broadcast trailers live and build hype. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon aren't the same game either, it's an alternate storyline type of deal like Black 2 and White 2 were with Black and White. B2/W2 were massive improvements over B/W, which is why US/UM are a big deal. GameFreak stopped doing enhanced versions after Platinum.

We can probably blame that fake Pokemon Stars rumor for all the disappointment. You'd think people would realize by now that anyone can make up a fake leak... I'm excited for all three of the games that were announced.

Told everyone it was unrealistic to expect Pokemon on the Switch, no clue why people were 100% sure it'd happen. Either way, I'm excited for Pokken Tournament DX, Ultra Sun, and Silver on 3DS!

Sarada Sarada was unable to dodge Kotetsu's grab and was flung across the stadium. Luckily for her, she wasn't thrown too far up above the ring, and she managed to touch down and save herself just inches from the edge of the ring. I really can't let my guard down around him... She struggled back to her feet and studied her opponent. "I won't hold back, either!" She roared as the lunged towards Kotetsu, fist pulled back in preparation for a punch. "Cherry Blossom Clash!" Instead of attacking Kotetsu, she touched back down a foot away from him. The floor of the ring around them began to splinter, and a few chunks of it were dislodged and blew away from the zone of impact. Now, hoping that she'd made him lose his balance, Sarada moved in with a flurry of chakra-enhanced blows.

It won't be a main series game on the Switch. GameFreak just opened a job listing for what looks like a Switch game, and it closes next summer. They usually take a year or two to transition to new hardware anyway, I don't know why everyone expects a Switch release so soon. They're just setting themselves up for disappointment. I'm thinking it's going to have Gen IV remakes and hopefully Pokken on the Switch, Wii U never got the additional characters and an upcoming port would fix that. People just need to not expect something wild for every announcement. People are gullible and believe leaks like Stars, then get mad when a rumor with no substance is proven false. The Switch just came out and the 3DS is still alive.
