I personally agree with you guys and I actually believe that Xehanort's plan in KHIII will mess up because of an 8th light. But who knows? Nomura might pull a fast one on destiny. I can't get one bit of text out of my head: "Did we come all this way for nothing?"

Maybe Lyon could be her own mother. YMX meets her during his keyblade training and falls deeply in love. He impregnates her. When he decides to forge the X-blade and find a new body, he realizes his love will not survive with him. He then takes her heart and implants it in their unborn child. He planned to continuously repeat this process until something happens.

I assume that Xehanort's plan is almost flawless, consider his insistence on the final battle and all events prior were destined to happen. Destiny would probably just choose 7 of the fighters for light, or maybe even shave off any excess, if ya know what I mean...

You have to be already using a style, then use Magnet, Edge, or Reprisal commands to fill the Command meter. It is basically Ventus with 6 blades of light floating behind him that he wields veeeeeeery fast. Everyone knows that. GOSH (just kidding .-.)
