  1. Hi everyone! I wanted to ask a few questions about what is known thus far about Kingdom Hearts 3's development. I was having a discussion in a shoutbox on another site with someone and they told me a few things I did not previously know or was mistaken about: Kingdom Hearts 3 has only been in development since 2012 The Osaka team has been developing it the whole time since the release of KH: 3D Only certain mechanics from 3D were being explored/looked at for implementation in KH3 prior to 2012 Osaka is the main team working on KH3 (I thought there was another "main team" working on the title before Osaka) I do my best to follow updates and news releases for anything Kingdom Hearts, so I apologize if these facts have been long known by the community. I just thought that KH3 had been worked on since at least 2010. Any clarification on the validity of the above points would be greatly appreciated. P.S. Are there any hints from Nomura and co. as to exactly when KH 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue will release in 2016?
  2. You have some really cool ideas for battles! I think the only way we could see Xion or Riku Replica brought back would be through Vexen/Even, since they were made from data. I wonder if the majority of the "old" Organization XIII will at least make cameo appearances, for that matter.
  3. List any battles or fights you hope to see or play in KH3. Note that this does not have to be limited to 1 vs. 1; it can be any amount of protagonists and enemies you see fit. I'll go first: 1. Sora vs. Vanitas - This simply must happen. The brief appearance of Vanitas in 3D hints or points to his return in some form or another. To have Sora fight someone who looks almost exactly like him could go in interesting directions. I know that Vanitas is Ventus' darkness manifested. Those two have already fought and we saw the consequences, so it could be very surprising to witness what happens when Sora confronts Vanitas. 2. Sora and Lea vs. Isa/Saix and Braig/Xigbar - This would be only the second time that Sora and Lea (Axel) teamed up to fight a common enemy. A team-up like this could escalate quickly, given the unique abilities each character possesses. The tension and feelings of lost friendship between Lea and Isa could be highlighted here, adding to the drama. Sora having a rematch with Xigbar could be awesome, too. 3. Aqua vs. Terra - Aqua may need to fight Terra once more before being able to free his heart from Xehanort's control. Maybe she could use the Keyblade to Return People's Hearts at the end of the battle to finally restore Terra's heart to this body. I think it would be more meaningful for her to do this rather than Sora, since Aqua risked everything to save Terra when he was sinking into the Realm of Darkness. Unfortunately, she did not know that it was already too late for Terra, that Xehanort's heart had triumphed and taken over completely. That's all for now. I will probably have more ideas as more information becomes available about KH3!
  4. Since when are all Keyblades "man-made"? The Kingdom Key chose Sora to be its master instead of Riku, so Sora did not directly create it. There was never any indication that Riku created his Soul Eater or when it became a Keyblade by transforming into Way to the Dawn. It was never explicitly said that Terra, Ventus and Aqua personally forged their Keyblades, either. The forging of these weapons only seems to happen in Item Synthesis with the Ultima Weapon and the creation system used in Chi. How could the main characters make their Keyblades in the image of a weapon that they didn't even know existed, unlike the keybearers in the events of Chi?
  5. Last night, I was playing as Ventus in BBS, trying to finish up some odds and ends before taking on Vanitas. I decided to work on the Command Board (both regular and Mirage Arena versions). When I played the Hunny Pot Board, I couldn't believe what was happening. Tigger was able to continously spam and roll two dice without seeming to run out of cards in his hands! As a result, he was able to score a disproportionate amount of points compared to Pooh and me. I think the mini-game's A. I. was either glitching or cheating, as Tigger should not have been able to roll two dice three, even four times in a row! Needless to say, I lost to Tigger in the regular version AND the Mirage Arena version, as he pulled the same crap there, too! Has anyone else encountered this phenomenon or was it just me being exceptionally unlucky? Again, I was playing as Ventus and on Proud Mode, though I do not know if in-game difficulty makes a difference with the Command Board mini-game or not. As an aside, I played the Royal Board and Spaceship Board without having any issues, as the A. I. were behaving typically in those matches.
  6. Thanks for clarifying! I had already read a bit about the Tome of Prophecy yet didn't fully understand its mechanics. I wonder if many fans are as confused as me about what this game did with the plot and characters! It's as if Nomura and co. thought the story wasn't complicated enough when they made this game
  7. Hello everyone, I have questions about the main story line of KH: X and Unchained X. I realize that some of them may have been asked already. However, I can't seem to find conclusive answers or any official confirmation from Nomura and co. With that out of the way, onto the questions: 1. If KH: X/Unchained X takes place before the Keyblade War, how is it that there are other worlds besides the One World the War is fought in? The events following the Keyblade War are what supposedly caused the many worlds to be created, from the light that still dwelled within children's hearts. 2. Has it been confirmed that Daybreak Town is located in the One World that existed before the Keyblade War split it into many? 3. How can there be Emblem Heartless already invading, considering these Heartless were created by Xehanort and his homies in Radiant Garden/Hollow Bastion many, many years later? Logically, only Pureblood Heartless (Shadows, Neoshadows, Darkballs, Darksides, Invisibles, etc.) should be the only ones around, since they have existed for as long as darkness has been around (as far as we know). 4. Is it likely for major retconning to take place in order to fit either the entirety or certain elements of Chi/Unchained Chi into the main story/timeline, given the way events have already played out in the other titles? 5. Actually, has any major retconning already taken place anywhere in the series? Sorry if this seems like a lot of questions at once. I haven't been able to play Chi and may not play Unchained Chi for quite a while after its release (I don't have access to a smartphone yet). I appreciate any answers that help us fans better understand the changes taking place in the series, especially if there will be conflicts with the main continuity. I can't say I fully comprehend the main plot up to this point, especially with the findmuck that was Dream Drop Distance! Thanks for taking the time to read all this!
  8. That's interesting that many of the keyblades are based on ones that Sora uses, despite this part of the story taking place possibly eons before Sora was even born! Those Foreteller Keyblades look freaking awesome, though! The first one looks just like Xehanort's, so I wonder if this hints at Xehanort himself being a Foreteller. It's also possible that his former master was a Foreteller and passed this Keyblade down to him. I'm actually excited about this part of Chi's story. I hope that it's told/shown in an awesome way in KH3!
  9. I have a quick question about keyblades in this game. I have not been able to play it yet, so I apologize if this has already been confirmed/answered. Do any of the keyblades look just like the ones we see in the Graveyard in BBS? It would make sense to use some of those models to show continuity and a stronger connection to the main story.
  10. Hey everyone, the confusion surrounding the "canonness" of the Chi/Unchained Chi's plot has really been puzzling me lately. Has it actually been confirmed by Nomura himself that only the bit about the Foretellers and the Book/Tome of Prophecy is directly canon to the main story? I can't help but feel that if the entirety of Chi is canon, then there may be a confliction with how BBS told the tale of the Keyblade War. I really hope that there won't be retconning of the main story in order to make Chi fit directly into the established timeline. This could just be my biased opinion but I feel that the seriousness of the Keyblade War may have been reduced by making the protagonists in Chi look kind of cutesy, if you know what I mean. I get that it's just the art style and that it may be more more accessible to a wider audience who may not take the plot as seriously as us fans do. It's just that I have always pictured the War to be a terrible conflict with grave consequences, resulting quite literally in a graveyard of thousands of dead keybearers! This art style for Chi doesn't do this pivotal moment in the story much justice, IMO. Maybe one day I'll be able to play at least Unchained X and will change my mind about some things. I ultimately want the Keyblade War to be as dark and serious as BBS made it out to be. Lastly, I'm also hoping that KH3 will have some sort of playable flashback that takes us right to the War itself and has awesome looking characters, maybe even wearing Keyblade armor! Sorry if this read like a long-winded rant. I'm mainly concerned that a potentially incredible event/plotline in the KH Universe may not be as fleshed out as it could be if most of it takes place within a spin-off browser game rather than a full-fledged title. If anyone can further explain anything that I'm missing about the current situation, please do!
  11. I definitely hope to see Atlantis and Treasure Planet, and maybe the Black Cauldron. I guess I want to see worlds with a darker tone, since KH3 is looking like it could have a darker story line with the resurrected Organization XIII and the ruthlessness of Master Xehanort. As for other worlds, I wouldn't mind seeing Agrabah again, and maybe even Port Royal, as I really enjoyed both worlds in KH2. The only way I'd want to see Atlantica again is if there was a greater focus on combat/exploration, rather than spontaneous singing with quick time events. I do not know as much about the more recent Disney movies, as I haven't seen them or have only seen bits and parts of them.
  12. As usual, I'm late to the comment party. I think I've been spending too much time in the Realm of Darkness  Anyway, I was stunned by the trailer and the footage. I'm just glad there has been confirmation of the footage being actual gameplay, unlike the E3 2013 trailer, which was all just a representation of what Square wanted the game to look like. My thoughts: - The Keyblade transformations look awesome, definitely looking forward to seeing more of those. - I'm really digging Sora's new outfit, as it reminds me a bit of what a Samurai would wear, particularly the plates covering the sides of his legs. This outfit just seems more mature, as it symbolizes Sora's growth as a protagonist. - The graphics and art style look fantastic so far, and this is still an early build! - I couldn't help but smile when I heard "Rage Awakened" play when the action started! - I have yet to see "Tangled", though I've heard great things about the movie. I will probably check it out at some point. - Since Rock Titan appears to be back, does this mean we will be going back to Olympus Coliseum, or maybe explore a different location from Hercules' world?
  13. I have struggled a bit with this boss battle in the past, too. I find that swimming around the perimeter of the island after evading Hook's attacks is an effective way to put more distance between you and him. That extra distance will likely buy you a little more time to heal, plan your next attack, etc. Oddly enough, ol' crocky never tried to attack me while I was in the water, so I think he only has a taste for Hook.
  14. Thanks for clarifying! I guess we can sum it up as a "temporary body" that served as a placeholder until he (Sora) was able to merge with Roxas at the beginning of KH2. Something tells me that Roxas' character wasn't fully developed at the time KH1 was finished, so this could be a small plot hole.
  15. The Mysterious Figure has to be one of the most difficult bosses I have ever fought in any game. The last time I took him on was when I was playing as Ventus on the PSP version (I haven't progressed far enough to unlock this boss battle in the 2.5 version yet). I never stood a chance against him, as I was attempting to use a strategy other than the "cheap" surge spam one. He would usually finish me off with his move where he impales you with his blade and slams you into the ground repeatedly. I guess I will have no choice but to equip a bunch of surges and hope for the best! By the way, isn't equipping any cure spell a bad idea? I thought I remember reading about how MF can mimic what you do and heal himself, similar to the Vanitas Remnant. I thought only potions were recommended in this battle.
  16. Hey everyone, it's been an eternity since I last posted! While I agree with and understand nearly everything that has been reviewed or explained as canon, one thing still bugs me. I've known for a long time that Roxas is Sora's Nobody. However, it didn't fully occur to me that Roxas was a full manifestation of Sora's physical body. What I don't understand is what body is Sora using right after he's "revived" by Kairi at Hollow Bastion? By that point, Roxas was already born and was using Sora's body. How was Sora able to even have a body at that point?
  17. Hey everyone, I just updated my latest post in the "Question Regarding the Soundtrack" thread in Re: CoM. I answered my own question and clarified why I though there was a "new" version of Forgotten Challenge in 1.5.
  18. I'm starting to think that there is no one "true" Mark of Mastery Exam. I think the exam can be administered at the discretion of the teacher/instructor and doesn't have to follow preset criteria. Just look at how more involved Sora and Riku's Exam was compared to Terra and Aqua's. Perhaps Master Eraqus saw how well Aqua could handle changing conditions in her environment when she had to fend off Terra when he resorted to enhanced darkness abilities. Maybe there is more to being a Keyblade Master than has been revealed in the series thus far. Sora failing his Exam points to the strong possibility that he will learn more about what it takes to be a genuine Keyblade Master throughout KH III and will shed more light on why certain students receive this honor while others do not.
  19. While I agree with the overall sentiment that Sora is more mature than he acts on occasion, I have to disagree with him being portrayed as a bully to certain Organization members. We have to keep in mind that all the members of Org. XIII knew what they were getting into and understood their orders from their superiors. We have seen what happens to members when they deviate from the original plan or have an agenda of their own: they are deemed "traitors" and are eventually executed. As for Demyx, I've never come to fully understand his character. He acts carefree and goofy on the outside but certainly feels differently on the inside, as is shown through his actions. We can't forget that he indeed tried to kill Sora at Hollow Bastion, so there's no way he could truly be a "good guy", unless he was about to betray the Organization and make it look like he was still on their side. He was definitely in Sora and co.'s way when they were trying to help their friends during the Heartless invasion.
  20. I still haven't seen Frozen. Would anyone recommend that I watch this movie? From the very little that I have seen (stills of the characters mainly), it looks like it could be an interesting choice for a world. However, I would NOT want any forced musical mini-game. I would want the world to focus on the main story and have Sora and co. fight awesome-looking winterized Heartless, as well as a memorable boss fight.
  21. I find it strange that it has been said that the game is still early in development. Hasn't the game been worked on since 2010? If this is the case, I'm surprised the development team isn't further along. As for the graphics, I think they look stunning so far despite being cartoonish. After all, the series has always been known for its cartoonish aesthetic and it has worked very well. If what we saw in the reveal trailer was very early footage and not fully representative of the game, I think we will all be in for a real treat when the final product is unveiled. The bottom line: Kingdom Hearts III just can't be released soon enough!
  22. Ok, maybe the volume was significantly turned up in the HD converting process. That would explain why the vocals in the song sound so much better to me than the original version. Come to think of it, this was the only song that stuck out to me and made me think something was different. I didn't get this feeling with any other song when hearing it for the first time in HD. Edit: Everyone, I think I finally answered my own question. I did a little more research via YouTube and discovered the "2013 version" of Forgotten Challenge in playlists from several years ago, long before 1.5 was released. I found out that the "newer" version was in fact a part of the official release of the game's OST. It was apparently remastered for the OST, as the version of the song in the PS2 Re: CoM is noticeably different. The "2008 version" that I posted previously was in the 2008 release of the game but the official OST has the remastered version implemented into 1.5. I'm so glad the OST composition team decided to include the remastered version for 1.5, as it does a better job of inducing tension leading up to the final showdown with Marluxia, in my opinion.
  23. Are you sure you didn't hear any differences? I can definitely hear the difference in the choir vocals in both versions. The 2013 version has much louder choir vocals and the drums sound more muted or in the background. If you listen to the 2008 version again you'll hear how "noisy" the drums are compared to the other version and how low in volume the choir vocals are.
  24. I voted for Stun Impact. While all the "new" abilites are very cool, Stun Impact seems to be one of the most practical and effective finishers, as well as Hurricane Blast (not in the poll). There's something very satisfying about watching Sora stomp the ground, throw his clenched fists to his side, and release an explosive shockwave of energy in all directions.
  25. Hello, Superior of the InBetween! You noticed differences with certain songs as well? I can definitely describe the differences I heard in Forgotten Challenge in Re: CoM on PS3. In this version, the drums are more so in the background as opposed to being louder and more intense in the 2008 version. But what is more prominent are the new choir vocals added in the second half of the song. These vocals are much louder in this version and sound more haunting and eery. I actually like this version of the theme better, even if it isn't "new". Maybe the mixing was redone for certain themes so they would sound better? Or perhaps the songs just sound better in HD? I hope someone can clarify any of this. P. S. Your username is really cool! I'm getting a Xemnas vibe from it! P. S. S. I've decided to link both versions of Forgotten Challenge here so everyone knows what I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBk2x1S-E-I This is the 2008 version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kP9UJYY2VC0 This is the seemingly new 2013 version.
