  1. For the most part I agree with you, though I don't know that most people tend to like "modern" cartoons simply because of plot. There are a lot of other factors that I consider more important, like the quality of the animation, writing, voice acting (and especially in the case of Steven Universe, stellar tunes). I obviously can't speak for everyone, but in my experience all those take precedence over plot, though it's certainly a plus when it's done well. Speaking of which, there have been times in cartoons when plot was implemented very poorly and were well liked in spite of that. Most notably for me was Xiaolin Showdown- if anyone's not familiar, it's about four kids from different parts of the world training to be (a very loose interpretation of) Shaolin monks and spend a majority of their time gathering various mystical artifacts called Shen Gong Wu that basically give whoever uses one of them super powers, and preventing bad guys from getting their hands on them. And it was kind of a train wreck- villains would drop in and out for no reason, multiple different Shen Gong Wu would switch hands between the bad guys and good guys in a single episode and then trade back like the very next episode, certain Shen Gong Wu would be retconned to change what they're able to do (looking at you, Changing Chopsticks), etc. There was plot, sure, but it wasn't good. It was nearly impossible to follow even if you managed to catch every episode, and god help you if you did miss one; at least with Steven Universe, I'm usually able to keep up if I do happen to miss an episode or two. Of course none of that necessarily means the show was bad- it had decent animation, and voice acting that ranged from meh to pretty great- I could listen to Jack Spicer just say dumb things all day long. People tend to remember it pretty fondly and it still has a lot of fans (and even a reboot series called Xiaolin Chronicles that's not nearly as good). Xiaolin Showdown is a really good example of a "kids" cartoon with a terrible plot that's otherwise a decent show. Long story short, you're right, though i'm not sure how many people feel that way to begin with.
  2. Nah. There's every chance in the world that the other reality might be a million times worse than this one. I'd rather stick with the admittedly shitty reality I know than risk one that's possibly even worse. Better the devil you know.
  3. A history eraser button, and two fail-safes for the history eraser button, just in case I get really sick of this shithole reality.
  4. On a related note, I would pay good money to anyone who could provide evidence of an Eleanor Roosevelt sex tape.
  5. I like that all the stuff they showed off was basically "watch as the computer does everything for you while the characters just sit there and do nothing". Seriously, woulda loved to see actual player controlled driving, or even some in-car banter between all the guys. They're bros on a road trip, they should be firetrucking around with each other, cracking wise and doing shit, not just sitting passively.
  6. If by "pay attention", you mean posting a weird mishmash of memes and almost certainly ironic political views, if this topic is anything to go by. Really, it's next to impossible to break the internet's apathy about these sort of things, that's just the culture. Worth noting that most people have lives outside of what they post online.
  7. Only if Donald Trump doesn't destroy the country first.
  8. You realize you're saying this about an industry that's already bringing in millions of dollars, right?
  9. grimlooooooooooooock This has seriously become my most anticipated game this year. God damn, it looks s'good.
  10. Nah. I rarely try to 100% games, even ones I really like; I get bored too quickly. Especially with how frustrating Re:Coded can be- play certain parts at vaguely determined times of day, play certain parts over and over again, play almost everything really really fast, it's just all too much for me. Grats to you for getting all 30 chips, though!
  11. It's not at all practical to do so where I live. There's no bus stops anywhere near me, and trains really only run in the metropolitan areas, not the weird quasi-redneck area I'm close to.
  12. Replace the word "iPad" in that paragraph with "television" and it'd be exactly the same thing people were concerned about decades ago. Don't worry so much about it, you said yourself, most of us went through the same thing when we were kids and the majority of us aren't totally firetrucked up. Also, here's a little anecdote of my own: I work at a retail chain and a lot of parents let their kids play on tablets and other devices while they're shopping. Literally last night, I saw a brother and sister each playing on separate tablets, the boy playing some fighting game and the girl browsing YouTube, and at the same time they were getting along with each other really well. They would say things like "Yes, I'm about to do my special move! Check it out!" or "Hey, look at this video I found!", very clearly bonding with each other despite doing two very different things. The kids were socializing just fine, and having a great time, iPads and all.
  13. No, I'm an adult with actual responsibilities that don't simply go away for a few weeks at a time.
  14. It's already been pointed out that anything by Mel Brooks is great, and that's 100% true. So many different genres that have been spoofed, my personal favorites being Spaceballs and Blazing Saddles, mostly because sci-fi and Westerns are so entertaining to make fun of. Outside of Mel Brooks, The Man With Two Brains starring Steve Martin is one I've always found to be really hilarious. Also has one of my favorite jokes: "You're playing God!" "Someone has to!!!"
  15. Space Paranoids was technically, though it was basically a recreation of the first Tron anyway. Still, Big Hero 6 seems like a good choice for a world, and the concept art looks super baller. Now I'll have to actually see the movie.
  16. What, is six main story movies (seven if you count Force Awakens this December) not enough for you?
  17. Star Wars, but not Force Awakens; both Rogue One and the Han Solo prequel sound much more interesting to me.
  18. Exactly. Much as we all love KH, it's really not that popular of a franchise (not compared to Final Fantasy, at least). I've almost never met a person in real life who's even heard of KH, let alone is a fan. We should consider ourselves lucky to have gotten X even; it's not going to do well in the Western world. Personally, I prolly wouldn't enjoy a true KH MMO all that much. I tend to like KH games for the excellent gameplay, and that'd assuredly be dumbed down to accommodate massive multiplayer components. Games like WoW and FF XIV don't have good gameplay, but they let you play with tons of people at once (among other features), so it's worth it. I don't think it'd be worth it for Kingdom Hearts.
  19. Street Sharks. I'm tired of 80s cartoons getting made into shitty movies, it's the 90s time to shine and be ruined! (Also a firetrucking shark man on roller blades is one of my favorite things ever and I'd love to see that fully realized on the silver screen.) Same, though surely you realize that it'd be a dumbed-down corporate blockbuster version so the "stunningly well written" part would never come through.
  20. Barring some horribly aggravating boss sequences ("fight" doesn't seem like the right word for most of them ) Origins basically copy/pasted gameplay from the previous two Arkham games, only implemented much more poorly. Also I'm shocked people like the story, it's just another rehashing of Batman's early days only the plot keeps forgetting what it wants to do. Characters are introduced, forgotten about for hours, then reintroduced to immediately have their "story" "resolved". It's boring and uninteresting, and they don't portray any of the plethora of awesome Batman villain well at all. Also worth noting I never encountered any game-breaking bugs on the PC version, though enemies sometimes became frozen mid-death after beating them. Nothing technically wrong with the game that I noticed, though. Go ahead and give Origins a shot if you want, but definitely keep your expectations low- I went in expecting a good game and came away about as disappointed in a game as I've ever been.
  21. Can I rename it FISTO? I hope that means I get to rename the dog whatever I want. I'll call it FISTO. All that really sounds pretty nice. Little stuff mostly, but nice nonetheless. (Can't see baseball being all that fascinating, though if I'm allowed to name my team the Capital Congressmen, I'll die happy.)
  22. Favorite song by my favorite musician set to great fanart of one of my favorite shows. I'm in love with a YouTube video.
  23. From where you're kneeling, must seem like an 18 karat run of bad luck. Truth is, the game was rigged from the start. BANG
