March 23, 20178 yr If only this had been made when I was ten: I used to love these stupid books. I read most of them to rags.
March 23, 20178 yr Bad choice of music, but decent trailer. I never read the books but the characters look different from the usual Dreamworks looks.
March 23, 20178 yr Captain Underpants was the shit when I was a kid and in all honesty, this looks good.
March 24, 20178 yr As a kid I wanted to read that books, but my mom convinced me it was inappropriate. As an adult, I realize the whole thing wasn't that bad.
March 24, 20178 yr Oh wow, Dreamworks is seriously making a movie out of this? I remember reading one or two of these books whenever I headed over to Marshall's! They were funny books with funny stories! It's pretty awesome to see that Captain Underpants is getting adapted into film! And I'm really digging that animation! It pops out from the usual CGI animation we see nowadays! This and the Boss Baby look awesome!
March 24, 20178 yr Ehhhh, I dunno. The art style is perfect, but nothing about this strikes me as especially funny. If anything, it just makes me wanna go back and read all the books again (and no, I am not embarrassed to read children's books as a grown ass man, thank you). is it me or does Kevin Hart sound too old to play a kid. What, and Ed Helms doesn't?

March 24, 20178 yr i think Ed Helms plays Captain Underpants in the movie. Ah. That explains why he sounds younger than either of the children.
March 26, 20178 yr Author Ehhhh, I dunno. The art style is perfect, but nothing about this strikes me as especially funny. If anything, it just makes me wanna go back and read all the books again (and no, I am not embarrassed to read children's books as a grown ass man, thank you). This is pretty much the same humor in the books from what I remember.
March 27, 20178 yr This is pretty much the same humor in the books from what I remember. I'm not really seeing it? Like, in the books Mr. Krupp and Professor Poopypants (god that is weird to type out in a normal discussion) aren't wacky and don't do funny things themselves, but the trailer makes it look like they're both wacky characters doing wacky shenanigans, and isn't that wacky??? Plus a lot of the jokes that worked in the books were set up by the narrator, not an actual character. Unless they do like A Series of Unfortunate Events and have someone literally play the part of Narrator, I don't see how they're gonna capture the same feel.

The entire series is wacky. And those two aren't sane by any comparison, just re-read everything they've done in the books, they're full-on mental. Unless they do like A Series of Unfortunate Events and have someone literally play the part of Narrator, I don't see how they're gonna capture the same feel. It will if they're still funny jokes. Doing the Boke and Tssukomi routine doesn't require specific types of people, just a straight man and wise guy. As long as you fill those two slots, they can be anybody.
March 31, 20178 yr The entire series is wacky. And those two aren't sane by any comparison, just re-read everything they've done in the books, they're full-on mental. Not saying they are, just that they don't crack jokes all the time like the trailer implies they're going to be doing. It will if they're still funny jokes. Doing the Boke and Tssukomi routine doesn't require specific types of people, just a straight man and wise guy. As long as you fill those two slots, they can be anybody. Ehhhh, I don't know if I believe comedy is really that simple. There're different types of humor, and I remember the books being much dryer than this trailer looks (though I could be remembering them wrong).
