Hear me out here. So a while ago someone posted a release date speculation thread, and in that thread I responded with a theory of my own. I've put it in spoiler tags to cut down on the size of my wall, but I'd recommend reading it cos this is gonna get juicy (hopefully).
I think we should go back to the calendar for this. (Bear with me here)
Now I'm going to be reaching A LOT here, but like i said before, bear with me.
If we take the calendar as the 1st of the month being a Thursday, the months that fit the bill the best is March and July 2018. November 2018 ALSO starts on Thursday the 1st, however it only has 30 days but let's not let that discourage us.
If the 1st is a Friday, then it matches with June 2018. This is the only occurrence of a Friday the 1st.
Now if we really want to shake things up, Lets say the calendar starts on a Saturday (very rare I know) which would make Wednesday the 1st. The only month that matches this is August 2018.
BUT WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN.
The calendar was in the 2015 E3 trailer. With the power of interviews and hindsight on my side, we can infer that at this point they must have recreated all the assets that they lost while transferring the game to the U4 engine and production was full steam ahead. This could lead credence to the July 2018 release date, which in 2015 must have been a safe bet.
This is supported by the fact that Japanese calendars generally start with a Sunday. But that is unlikely to be the case.
So the next possible release window is November 2018. But we may still get new information in July. I really do believe that it was meant to be released in July but that seems unlikely now. And November is being backed by the Target kerfuffle.
Just my 2 quids
Now I've just seen something else that caught my attention.
In the D23 trailer we got to see Toy Story, and a big part of it was Galaxy Toys. There was also a leaflet for Galaxy Toys in Andys room that would be reminiscent to many of us, who didn't circle toys in a catalogue? Anyway this is besides my point, here's the picture :
Now first off let's talk about the multi coloured circle. Unlike practically every other price, which are all at $x.97/98 cents, this toy is priced at $12.80.
If we were to convert that to a date it becomes 12th of August, or 8th of December. Both seem plausible release dates at this stage but there's a lot of blockbuster games coming out in Autumn/Winter, is Square gonna risk that?
Or are they going for a curveball no one will expect?
In the spoiler tags, I mentioned that the two months that perfectly fit the calendar are March and July 2018. It's April now so we can safely disregard March. July 2018 on the other hand is a whole nother game.
In the black circle are a group of dolls called 'julia's' priced at $20.18.
2018, ok great that sounds reasonable enough we've been expecting that.
Julia? Could that be a reference to July? Is Nomura giving us a hint? And there's three of them.
3rd July 2018 guys. Something is gonna go down.
Whether it's a release date or an important trailer I don't know, but there's no way all of this is coincidence.
What do you think?
I'd also like to thank the KH reddit for the 3 Julia's
