From the same @KH3isLife guy on twitter sounds like you have to complete the game once to unlock critical mode, you don't get it from the start.

I got a screenshot of a DM of a guy who talked to another guy who has claimed to have completed the game @KH3Sam and i got this incredible tidbit:

Fair but it's kinda disappointing, especially since I know a lot of streamers who would want to play it blind on critical mode.

I'm kind of stumped by that screenshot I have, if that turns out to be true then idk what to say

Yeah I saw this KH3Sam dude on Twitter. I don't know if their legit or not but it's highly possible they are. I'm not going to say what was said but if anyone is wondering they could message me. I have not DMed the person myself but they have given some info that might be considered spoilery so be careful looking up KH on Twitter.

Well it seems like KH3Sam was lying the whole time.

Sorry it didn’t work but it doesn’t matter now we know the guy is lying, he basically claimed alongside Riku you could play as Terra and YX.
