But the gist is that it tends to mainly happen to female characters who are killed off to cause the protagonist pain

And let's be honest, the only character that has really happened to is Kairi.

I meme a lot but I don't think Nomura is a terrible writer, far from it.

He just has some questionable ideas from time to time.

I don't think Nomura is a bad writer with certain material

In fact I think he'll do an excellent job with FF7R

But when it comes to him, he gets too ahead of himself, he lets kingdom hearts stories get very out there but when he needs to pull it back in he sort of misses the mark at times

I think that could be atributed to the lack of a roadmap for the Xehanort saga. Now that Nomura (hopefully) has the next saga planned out, he may be able to hit those marks.

Like, 3D's story was what it was because of a desperate need (or want, I suppose) to tie all previous together and set up the events of KH3.

Which led to time travel, wrecking Xemnas' character from KH2, the Mark of Mastery being the central point of the game, and the norting process + the 13 vs 7.
