If you play for example astral chain you will see why 100% serious story telling doesnt work in action games

Also serious tone and these disney worlds don't work the whole time you're in that world. Especially in Kingdom of Corona.

Yeah while thats true, the sheer lack of motivation and the games acknowledgment of that doesnt make the story better, it just makes it seem lazy

Also this is an action JRPG so the story should have more weight than just an action game

Not to say that it makes the Disney worlds boring or filler or some shit, the problem is that they actually don't factor into the plot when they're supposed to.

I'm mean yeah we protected the princesses but...that wasn't really necessary.

Because the objective that needs to be achieved when going to the Disney worlds is to obtain the power of waking, which is an extremely nebulous power that has no real explanation of how it can be obtained outside the dream worlds.

That's btw the only reason why kh2 gets away with that

I don't even know if KH2 really gets away with it tbh, it works most of the time but there are bumps along the way

KH2 at the very least had mutliple goals and a shift in goals halfway through the game

I mean KH2 was only defeat the heartless, nobodies and the organisation and protect the worlds. And then the kairi stuff which didnt matter bc seconds after that sora treated kairi like she doesnt exist and only cared about his boyfriend :linkusGiggle: :linkusAYAYA:

Still mattered more to the main story because that was the main story as it was presented at the time.
