Are keyblade transformations never explained in game ? ? they’ve been in the series since BBS ?

Technically since Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix

They have been, but it's never explained how Sora knows them

and yet, Riku and Mickey don't

True ?

and ? that’s weird

Lol no

considering the entire game is centered around learning a power, i can't imagine he just figured it out then and there

plus kh3 happens right after khDDD if I remember right. Not much time passes to figure that stuff out

Which, DDD ended with him losing all his powers

~~again`~

again

Three happens literally immediately after 3D like not even a Split Second

Keyblade transformations are explained as part of his new clothes power. They're absolutely canon.

When is that explained?

Yen Sid mentions the clothes are special again. And in the tooltip IIRC.

So when Yen Sid mentions his clothes are special, there is no correlation to the keyblade transformations in that. Take KH2 for example, when the three fairies are explaining the clothes to Sora, they show it is directly because of those clothes themselves that Sora has performed a formchange

Nothing about the Yen Sid talk says anything beyond "It protects you from the darkness" It's not even confirmed through that the new clothes are capable of performing the same things as the old ones. But for the sake of convenience, we can just say that the new clothes have all the same capabilities as the old ones, meaning that they can utilize drive forms. Which they do; his clothes turn different colors. Which is just about the extent that it worked in kh2

The tooltip says nothing about the clothes. All it says are "Some of the keyblades that you obtain are capable of changing shape, or formchanging"

Which leads into my earlier point. Why is this just suddenly a thing. Sora should be at least as weak as he was in the beginning of KH2. He may be able to use drive forms, but these keyblade transformations are not explained at all. Terra, Aqua, and Ven are capable of them. Yet somehow, Riku and Mickey aren't. And yet again, Sora somehow is.

Because of this, I do not like how they were made canon by being featured in a cutscene in San Fransokyo. Personally, I don't consider a tooltip to be lore-defining. But even if it were, nothing in the tooltip speaks to me that they are connected directly to the clothes, other than that sometimes keyblade changes, for some reason, change the color of your clothes

so whens the novel coming out

^^

the KH3 novel?

scary`s

o h ?

Man i'm working on it

and lemme tell you

chapter 6 is a shocker

wink wink

I can see your point tho scary. with KH, they usually try to tie in game-stuff into the lore somehow. But I guess they just.... didn’t this time

I mean walrus fjfkfkfkfjf

I mean either scary or walrus is fine lol

But yeah and I get that, but that's just why I don't like the san fransokyo scene. Because it takes this thing that was not explained, and made it canon by having it interact with the characters

Without that one scene, we could've just said "Eh, it's a gameplay thing. It doesn't actually happen in the lore" But now it does lol

? maybe that’s a problem for the next game to solve

that whole thing is also why I feel like it would be weird for them to try to make a console remake of UX. it’s already canon that medals somehow go into the keyblades.
