Right, but FF14 is also a story driven game. So it's focus isn't only on just the MMO aspect but the story too

It wouldn’t shock me if soon they add an item to the shop that unlocks all the raids from stormblood and before

My point is just that the concept of progress main story --> open new content is not an unheard of a thing
