also, heard rumors about ps5 not being backward compatible with ps3 and before because of licensing issues, most studios being dead and licenses hard to trace

if you add it to the hardware nightmare it would be, makes it really unlikely

they don't need to deal with licensing issues if they just had an emulator and the capability to read dvds and cds, for ps1+2 at least

Not in the sense that they must do it, but that their competitor is doing it so well that their excuses can't really apply

You don't need to bolt a PS2 onto the console, just add an emulator and have it read dvds. No need to do the whole downloading the game from the Internet too

pisses me right off that a ps4 is literally one software update away from being able to play ps2 discs

lest we forget Sony's grand total of 17 ps2 games on ps now
