I think it's more that Sora's mom wasn't too important to the overall plot and was really only needed for that one scene.

DragonQuest 9
Nier Automata
Star ocean till the end of time
Black cauldron
End of the world
Realm of darkness
Kingdom hearts
Final world.
Each of these worlds has point of unison.
