Directors and writers vision should always be put first, if it requires a long story it should be accepted as such, same for the opposite.

Like don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's an all the time thing but think about it- no seriously, any time a movie is about 2 and a half hours- actually scratch that; anything about 2 hours flat this conversation always comes up in places, but to Hunts point, it's the vision of the creator/creation that matters most. There's long movies that really do utilize every second they have, and there's plenty that are bloated.

Here's my thing tho, long ass movies like this are far from common, but there's always the [not saying this is you] "They should do away with long movies anything above 1:45 is inconsiderate" or whatever

Like no seriously every time lol no one gave a shit when Infinity War and Endgame were long- but why? Lots of bright lights and colors? Appreciation for film has dulled considerably, sadyl.

I don't think anyone necessarily wants the format to go away entirely. Some folks just have a harder time staying focused on something for that long and/or prefer the freedom of a home viewing experience where they're able to pick it up and continue whenever they'd like. It's an entirely separate topic to the artistic vision of the movie and directors imo. I can appreciate long format movies, and I'd love for directors to be able to express themselves however they want, I just can't sit through them in one go like that for the most part lol

It's no problem to let the director follow their artistic vision and all, but they can't turn around and complain when people don't want to watch such a long movie (as has happened before). For as much as people say they like new and different things, the reality is that we find a great amount of comfort in the familiar
