I mean granted you have kingsfield and diablo, that's as close as your to get to Elden Ring in that time period, and there are still tons of rumors and secrets on both games, then you have other budget dungeon crawlers that existed during that time. As for extensive openworld, you have Landstalker, Alundra, Zelda, Megaman Legends etc. On the darker like note you have Vagrant Story

Beat it once, the second time was slightly faster time around because of past experience and experimenting, even though it was pain trying give to get the grasp of combat altogether
