Square Enix and Disney have unveiled a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV during the D23 Expo Disney Entertainment Showcase panel.

This new trailer confirms that the Disney film Coco will be featured in Kingdom Hearts IV. It also revealed that a late 2027 release is in the works for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The new trailer showcases Sora interacting in the Coco world, alongside Mickey in Scala ad Caelum, as well as Strelitzia and Sigurd in Quadratum.

No words would describe how I'm excited to see my favorite Pixar film now a Kingdom Hearts world, and it's worth noting that unlike the Toy Story and Monsters, Inc. worlds from Kingdom Hearts III, which followed an original plot, apparently Coco's story in Kingdom Hearts IV is following the plot of the movie, which is a first for a Pixar-based world.

I think this could open the door for future Pixar-based worlds in the Kingdom Hearts series, based on The Incredibles, Brave, Inside Out, Soul, Turning Red, Hoppers, and the upcoming Gatto and Ghost Market either following the movie's plot or an original story, and I think the reason Coco is following the plot of the movie over an original story might be thanks to Pete Docter now being CCO of Pixar Animation Studios since 2018 after he replaced John Lasseter.

I'm going to pop in to warn any newcomers that, between here and the game's launch, Square is going to announce/spoil every single Disney world, 100% coverage, no hyperbole. I'm pretty sure that's been true of every game to date – it's deliberate to make sure they get as many eyes as possible. If you don't want to be spoiled about the worlds, now's the time to stick your fingers in your ears for the next year and a half.

Now that that's done:: hype! This was one of the worlds I was looking forward to the most, what with the art style, KH4's overall themes, and at least one plot prediction I've got lined up. So far, so good!
