Hey, guys.

I was away but now I'm back (:

But that's not the point of this thread.

As some of you know, I've tried to enter in another school -- which I will only know if I've passed tomorrow, and I need to be 100% sure I want to go to it tomorrow.

But I really can't decide.

The school I studied (and will continue if I don't go to the other) is a great place, but in my class, people are really arrogant and I only like 8 or 9, in 25. But I've been in that school for 10 years... I've never studied in another place.

The school I study is a private school, but the headmaster said I won't have to pay anymore if I stay, because I'm one of the best students of my class.

But even though I love the school, I don't really like my class much.

And now, if I go to the other school, I'll have to be there from 7:00am to 6:00pm twice a week, and from 7:00am to 2:00pm the three other days. And I only know a girl, which studied in my school. It's very far away from my home, and it's probably way harder than the one I'm currently on.

I am not sure -- each side has it good and bad points....

What would you do if you were in my place?

Btw, I have less than 12hours to decide. And I'm not 100% I've passed, I can go and the man can say "Nah, you're not in High School here. Only in the course [which is from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, and it's no big deal to do only it, cause I'll be going from my normal school, then take the bus -- too much trouble " so in that case I'm forced to stay in my school.

dude, i will go to even the best school in the whole entire cosmos even if it means cutting off all my ties to everything

If I were in your place, I'd go to the private school. You can still keep in contact with your friends from your old school (via email, phone, ect.) without having to deal with the other arrogant students. The other school sounds like a wonderful one time chance, plus, it can probably help you with college too.

I have a similar problem with the high schools in my area http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/sleep.png

Damn, I'm with the same problem too. My parents want me to change schools but they'll do whatever pleases me on this subject. I decided to stay in my school and change if I find the need to. I'd do the same if I were you, or just ask the headmaster to change classes if you want to.

If the problem is the people in general, in your school, I can relate. Anyway, that's my advice.

It's tough to say really. I suppose, if I were you, I would judge how well I like/know the people I know in both schools. Like how well you like these nine peoples in your current school and how well you know this one girl in this other one. Despite the dislike you may have for most of your classmates, I think a lot of people can relate and you don't know if the next school will be even worse.

As someone's who just moved school after being in the same one for four years, I found it really disorientating to be taught by different teachers, with a new lesson planner and a new style of teaching when I was so used to the teachers and environment my old school had to offer. It really threw me at the start and I'm still not entirely comfortable with the whole thing. Plus, I had lots of catch-up to do, which destroyed any chance of me to get to know the people in my new school outside of class.

And then there's the idea of money. If the headmaster at your current school really isn't going to make you pay and this new school will, then that's another big factor to consider. Personally speaking, I would choose to stay at the school where I didn't have to pay anything, so I could save up for University and other things like a car, ect.

However, all of this is just food for thought. You're a different person than I am and I don't feel comfortable giving you solid advice about what you should do. Sorry if that was what you were looking for but try to consider everything and if you do want to go to this new school, I wish you luck getting in.

I wish I could give you some really good advice, but I'm afraid I've got nothing. Like you said, there are pros and cons to both options. I guess you just need to figure out which cons you are most willing to deal with.

Good luck with this decision, my friend. I'll be praying.

Actually, sorry if I didn't explain well, but the school I study is the private school. The other is a place where only smart people go, and it's from the government.

Sorry. ^^;

Then I think that you should switch to the government school. I really do think it is a nice opportunity for you.

That's a tough choice since both school sounds good if I were you I would go to the other school it's could be a whole new experience and chance to meet new people but the only problem I could think of is that it's too far away.

You should pick the one that you think it would be the best for you and more comfortable too.

I don't feel like that -- school is important of course, but it's not the most important thing. My family, friends and stuff are also very important too.

A part of me wants to stay, but the other wants to have new experiences, meet new people... :/

Ah, I know that feeling, too. You're just gonna have to sort out what part of you is stronger.

I mean, honestly, is there any reason to leave except for your classmates?I mean, think about it.

Well, I think the answer is no.. I love the teachers, the people there that work in the school like me, say that I'm very educated, smart and stuff, and the school is like a second home for me. But the other school, as you might know, Kinode, is CEFET. One of the best schools in here, so if I go there [if the man says there's a spot for me], I'll have many good chances of having a better future and stuff... It's really a great school. I love the one I study now, but I think, maybe, it's time for a change?..

I think that if I go there and the man says there isn't a spot for me, maybe it means that it wasn't meant for me to study there, and that it's better to keep studying where I do nowadays.

Man, can I relate to you :D These decisions are the worse, especially since you won't know how much you like the other school until you go there.

I would say not to weigh your choice to heavily on the people in your class. It sounds like you have a group of good friends, and you'll only have to put up with other arrogant students for another 3/4 years. And the other school will probably have arrogant people too. You'll just have to put up with it and not let it bother you (and you see like an easy person to get along with so I'm sure you'll make friends).

I would hate to say "This is what I would do so you should do it too" since we're two different people who have different things that are important to us. I can tell you the sort of things I asked myself to come to a decision. The one that I asked myself when choosing my major was "What is more important: Having a job I'll love of being close to my family?" It's a little different for your case, but you should still ask yourself how important it is to be close to home. Also, does the education the other school provides justify the cost? Either you'll be burdening your family with the expenses or you'll have to pay for them later. With university being the next step you'll want to be careful adding costs now (you should look into scholarships if you decide to go too). Then, compare how long you study now with the new school schedule. If you know how long it takes you to do homework and learn, you can get a rough idea of how it'll be for you in the other school.

In fact, why don't you pull out a sheet of paper and right the pros and cons of each school and compare them side by side. It may help you organize your thoughts a little better and look at it more objectively.

Hope this helps you out, and don't stress too much over your decision. You are going to have many opportunities in your future regardless of where you go, and I'm sure you would enjoy either school ;)

I said that to my dad, that my school was the best one around which we can go to, and you know what he said?

The school doesn't change how your future will be. No matter if the school is better or worse, it's the student's outcome that will be influential for their future.

You'd have an amazing future no matter WHERE you go, I'm sure. I'd keep that out of the circumstances, what matters is if you'll be happy there.

Well, that's what some teachers said. It's not the school, it's the student's will -- if they want to learn, study hard, dedicate themseves. If I'll be happy or not in the school is still unknown, but I met a boy that started studying there, and he said he loves it. He made tons of friends. He says he'd never regret changing schools. But I still have some hours to think, though. By what my friend said, there were only a small number of people that were away, so it probably means that the man will say there's no longer a spot in High School...

Done good and bad points.

Cefet --

Good points:

♦Meet new people

♦Chances of a better future

♦Has an additional course that helps a lot when you're looking for a job

Bad points --

♦Far from home

♦Don't know almost anyone

♦Will get most of my time

My current school --

Good points:

♦Know everyone

♦10-15 minutes from home

♦Will only take 5 hours of my day

♦A lot of new people are going to my class, so there's a high chance I can make new friends.

Bad points:

♦Some people I really dislike

♦Will be the same old stuff for more three years

I take back what I said, firetrucking go to Cefet 8]

So what it's far from home, your mom has a car, right?

Nah, if I go there, I'm going there using the train -- 8 stations til I get there. Probably 20 minutes or a bit more..

20 minutes? That's not much.

I guess it boils down to whether you can handle being away from home and the extra workload. I guess what they say about having ambition is right. So which is better for you: being close to family and having more free time or getting a better education that may open new doors in the future? It's just up to whether you find the challenge of learning rewarding enough that you will be willing to move away for it.

  • Author

Yeah, but if not by the train, it's very far away from my home. Walking it'd take 1h and 30m.

Lu Xun, I'll bet you'll regret it if you stay at your old school.

School for smart people would definitely get you a better future if i am correct, right?

well if what i am saying is correct, choose what will get you a better future and life

and you can still pass by your old friends and say hi every once in a while

while for the bad points

you will get used to the distance

and soon you will get to meet other people

and if you can't find friends you will eventually

and for the time, it wouldn't differ that much from regular schools and after you finish you will have a lot more of time

I would say, not a bad price to pay for success

but that's my opinion and you are free to do what you want http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/happy.png
