As we know Donald delivers this line after hearing the information from Pete when they first arrive at the tower, but in Birth By Sleep we see that Donald and Goofy had already been in the tower before, with Yen Sid present. Is this just a slight random error? Did anyone else notice this? I noticed it awhile ago and just wanted to point it out

They didn't recognize Roxas as looking like Ven in that photo either. I suspect it's Namine's fault.

I noticed this back in 2010. Another sign that BBS's plot wasn't fully finished.

When making a prequel, you need to be careful not to make contradictions. They weren't careful enough.

The reason they don't remember is because Namine farted while restoring their memories.

In a series like Kingdom Hearts, with so many games and such an expanding story, I cut the writers some slack on slight contradictions like that. But Donald and Goofy sat on those exact steps years before KH2 (same mysterious surroundings too) and were all up in the tower too, so I can't see how in the world they could have forgot or been surprised. Not even at the fact that Yen Sid lived there, because he lived there when they last visited. Maybe the Twilight Town train threw Donald off.

Well I think there are many reasons about why they don't remember. They were concentrated and worried about King Mickey so they diddn't pay much attention to the place. They were there just once and 10 YEARS AFTER they had to go again but they couldn't remember. I mean come on tell me about a place you visited just once 10 years ago and, would you remember who lives there and how does it look like NOW? I don't think so.

Blame everything on Namine.

I'm pretty sure it was just a mistake, it's not like the minor details really matter. It's like the translation error when Roxas says "Why did he pick you?"

I think Xion's interference with Sora'memories also effected his intelligence and perhaps even Donald and Goofy as well, hence as to why Sora is a bit less smarter than the previous and why Donald and Goofy were surprised at the fact of Yen Sid living in the tower and why they did not mistake Roxas for Ventus in the picture.
