It bothers me. After KH2 where they INSISTENTLY referred to him as Xehanort's Heartless, now they deicde to jsut go back and call him Ansem? I mean, yeah, Xehanort's Heartless is a mouthful, but if you didn't want to deal with that you shouldn't have made such a stupid plot twist in the first place!

And it just gets weird, because the REAL Ansem IS in this game. And They need to persistently call him Ansem the Wise just to make that clear.

Never mind that Riku will occasionally call him just plain 'Xehanort'

Yeah, I think it's to call them in different ways. But yeah, I remember at Riku's battle in TWTNW Riku says "Ansem, no... Xehanort", so he knows who he is talking to.

Well, at least Riku corrects himself while talking to Xehanort's Heartless.

But Xemnas doesn't just arbitrarily have someone else's name. Sure it's an anagram of Ansem, but it's a different name.

There are two active Ansems, as is

I believe it's the opposite. After all, most people do call Xehanort's Heartless "Ansem" and the real Ansem "DiZ", so referring to him as Ansem is easier than having to say "Xehanort's Heartless" all the time and everybody will still understand who they're talking about.

^ People tend to flip flop alot when someone has multiple names. Besides, it is always perfectly clear who they are talking about when referring to either Ansem SoD or Ansem the Wise. The characters also know the differances, so it's a none issue as far as i'm concerned.

I do aknowledge it is minorly inconsistent writing, but if you know who they are talking about at any given time, it shouldn't matter. It's as redundant as correcting someone when they say on the phone that "this is he/she" when you fully understand what they are saying.

You're right.

I hope they eventually clear up the details about Ansem's experiments with darkness. I also would like to see more of Ansem's relationship with the heartless, as well as his time spent in the Realm of Darkness.

Because that's the name Xehanort's heartless adopted. When I did anything with Ansem the Wise he was getting called DiZ last I remember.

I think it's because he's remembered as Ansem no matter what, just like Xemnas isn't even named a way to fit Xehanort. He's Ansem moved around into with a X at the beginning. Though he knows he was part of Xehanort. But...Xehanort's Heartless is remembered as Ansem, so they just call him Ansem and Ansem the Wise is called Ansem the Wise to keep things clear to us.

They were talking about Ansem the Wise during a time everyone thought Ansem SoD was Ansem TW after experimenting with Datkness and being lost to it. They never actually see Ansem SoD to point out that it's not the right Ansem though.

Let's just put it this way. The scene that opened DDD showed how the Heartless even picked up the name Ansem. Xehanort called himself Ansem at that point and then Ansem SoD came about and thought he was Ansem.
