in CoM, Naminé messed with Sora's memories but i dont understand how that made Leon's gang and Kairi forget about Sora.

i came to a conclusion and pls tell me if something is wrong and pls tell me how this happend.

Err only reason I can think of is because some of those memories made their way into Roxas and Xion? I'm sure it's similar to the reason of how everyone forgot Xion once she dissapeared, or something along those lines. Someone probably has a better explanation.

I can't give an answer Ben, I didn't pay too much attention to CoM I wish I could answer you, though.

I think the best way to explain it is Namine messed with Soras memories which included anyone tied to his heart which includes his friends .. She talked about unlinking some ties and tying in new ties to fit her purpose in CO ..In order to fix all the untying of real memories and tying of made up memories she had to put Sora to sleep and fix everything she did .

Also, that's because memories are connected, even if they aren't yours. So while Sora forgot his KH1 Journey, everyone forgot he had done anything at all, like he hadn't existed (Except Riku, which I believe was able to remember thanks to being at CO)

Kinode's right. Even though Namine can only directly interfere with Sora's memories, by messing with those she indirectly affected everyone else's. Everyone outside CO, except Kairi (and probably his parents) forgot he even existed while they and Kairi only remembered he existed, but nothing else. Kairi remembered his existence either because she loves him or because their hearts were in direct physical contact for a long time. If it's the latter then even Sora's parents probably forgot about him until he woke up at which point everyone remembered him, if "a while back" means a few hours.

Everyone who ever made a connection with Sora forgot he existed sans Namine. When people have memories together chain of memories are forged among hearts so hearts are connected through those memories and they can never be truly lost, only disconnected. When Namine manipulated Sora's memories she disconnected the chains in his hearts and made new links based on preexisting memories. To undue the false memories Namine had to unlink all of Sora's chain of memories making him forget everything because she had tampered with all of them. Since hearts are connected by those chains then by extension she also unlinked the chains in other people's hearts and everyone forgot Sora. By KH2 Namine had removed all the excess memories and was linking everything back up and when she reconnected the chains she reconnected Sora's heart with everyone else's so they remembered him.

To start the name of the game is Chain of Memories, right? So Namine messed with those chains, with Sora's memories, and that affected everyone that had ties with Sora too, like Leon's gang and a little on Kairi. That made everyone "forget" Sora, but they still sorta had innactive memories of him, and when they put the memories together, they awaked.

Also, Riku never forgot Sora because (I think) he was thinking about his friends all the time, and his ties with Sora proved to be very strong, and he never forgot, just like Kairi never did completely.

No Castle Oblivion was not the reason for anyones memories being altered it was all Namine. The reason why Riku retained his memory was that his link in Sora's memory had never been removed. In fact this was a crucial aspect of marluxia's plan to maniulate Sora and take control of him. Hence the use of Repliku whose memories had been altered.
