Veteran KH13 members should have a place to hang out

I was already convinced this thread would be gold when I saw the name of the poster. But then I read it and now I can actually say it's gold.

*Thumbs up*

This is a great solutiong. I agree completely and it sounds like one of the best ideas so far. Well done.

Not a bad idea. I've been here for nearly 3 years now, so it might give me a chance to reconnect with some other older users too^^

New Quest: Become Legendary!

Is it fixing the problem or moving it somewhere else? And using the like system like this will turn likes into a currency which is not the point of having likes. We don't threads like "How do I get likes?" and "Please give me likes!"

Yes, and the amount of 'legendary' members is like 0.000001 % of all people on this site so it would be pretty pointless on this point and encourage to "Hey you are my friend : D How about liking my every post so I will become legendary" whoring and, that would suck

I dunno, personally I think moving it to a better environment solves the problem

And the simple solution to the likes things is to make begging for likes an act of treason.

I mean, as it stands, likes are by no means spammable; you get 20 per day... or something

And I mean, if somebody convinces someone to like 1000 of their posts, over the span of nearly two months.... they must be doing SOMETHING right

Call me a Paranoid Penelope, but I get this feeling this exclusive forum might be used to make fun of other members knowing that they wouldn't be able to see it, or that when/if they do, it'd be too late for anyone to care. (*is ignoring how members can do that just fine with private messaging, assuming they do it at all*).

You guys are too nice to do that, right?  Riiiight?

Simple solution

Make insulting people for not being part of the group

An act of treason

DC could introduce DLC to KH13! Buy ten likes for 99 cents! Perfect!

o.o ... *headdesk*

What about newer members like me who feel as just as part of the community as others but haven't had as much time to get enough likes?  I don't think it's fair that we're not able to do something we were able to do just because we don't have X likes.

But then you get those likes and get to go there

It's not like you're being excluded from much, just a little bonus area.

Now, 1000 MIGHT be a bit high, but I dunno, like I said, this is a rough idea

Maybe there could be an appeal system where members who wanted in without enough likes could ask DC to let them in anyways?

This is the exact reason why the idea is flawed despite its good intentions... There are plenty of new members that could end up excluded that don't deserve to be.

An idea I have is maybe the entry could be either 1,000 likes or 1,000 posts (or something around that). That way if you don't get likes much but are still a member who's been around you can enter. Just a thought.

Excluding people period doesn't solve any problems.

Including people, period, ain't so great either

I think equality and inclusivity are being confused here. Equality where everyone has the same rights, access and status is essentially communism... now who needs that? xD

I dunno, this idea just came to me last night, so it might be a bit badly formed, but we'll see!

Basically taking Cricket's VIP idea, and running with it:

How about a brand new place called "The Lounge"

A place for veteran KH13ers to hang out. What's that? You think this is too exclusive? Read on to uncover my logic in this.

Now first of all, I'd say that entry to the lounge should be defined by likes. Perhaps a thousand? something relatively easy to get to anyways, I just chose 1000 because that's when you become Legendary. basically, this gives new KH13ers something to strive for, most likely getting some to stay longer than they would have (This is kind of a forbidden fruit scenario, there's a mysterious inaccessible subforum, oOoOoOoOoH!) By the time they get 1000 or however many likes, they would probably be familiar enough with KH13's lore

In fact, we could take Amon's idea of polishing baylaust's topic and run with it, making a full guide within this topic, so first time visitors can become fluent with need be. In fact, a topic like this just sounds great in general.

Now, the final step to this, in my mind, is to make this forum heavily interactive. Have the mods actively search for good stuff, or interact more regularly with the members. Maybe have pinned AMAs or something, or a monthly contest for the best of some type of topic, with the reward being the topic preserved. In best of KH13, or something, I dunno.

The way I see it, this is a win for everyone. It encourages new members to stay a while, but might even ENCOURAGE some new members to join. It gives older members a place to freely express themselves, adn possibly be rewarded for it.

It just seems like it could be a good thing overall

Might need a bit of polishing

hatok, I recently send a proposition for something similar to DChiuch which we are discussing through messages at the moment that may interest you as a lot of the features are like this and go further. The 'exclusivity' issue is also tackled. Appreciating I'm 'a newbie' or whatever, perhaps you would like to have a chat with DChiuch and I in regards to it to see if we can make something big happen here that may just revolutionise KH13? I like your idea - so let me know? Cheers!

I like this idea and support it 100%.

Implying that likes aren't already a currency. The only thing stopping the full bloom of the "Likeconomy" (as I just named it) is the quota. The quota could be a little easier but that's a different topic.

If properly handled, this could even encourage people to make higher quality posts in order to get likes. Proper moderation and even some coding on DCs part could help reduce the "GIEV MEH LEIKZ PLOX" threads that could result from this.

I think requiring 1000 likes is a tiny bit majorly extreme. And yes, I am basing this off of me personally*. I've been here for three years, know all the inside jokes (even ones that predate me), and I like to think that most of my posts are of adequate quality. Yet, I would not be able to take part in a part of a forum that I most certainly should be able to (at least I think I would be qualified for the type of forum you're describing).

Maybe have different qualifications, were meeting one would automatically allow you to enter? One/Two years membership or with a certain amount of likes? I would suggest post number as well, but I know that it would be abused.

I like the idea, but I just don't think having an obscene amount of likes is the best fee for entry (so to speak). Especially considering that there seems to be some members who get likes on all their posts, and others who just don't seem to get many.

*I will freely admit that I am being selfish here.

Just a yearly thing wouldn't work, I don't think. It would have to be yearly with a certain amount of activity.

But yeah, other requirements would help make it more properly inclusive
