why, because comic books, one of the greatest things of media, is overshadowed by it, i only watch anime but i do not read manga for the undeniable fact that comic books are overshadowed by it. (did i just say it 2 times, yes i did)

It all comes to a matter of what someone likes/dislikes.

The only popular comic books I can think of are the Marvel/DC things... and I was never a huge fan of most American media

Well, manga have a different and more unique art style, most people think it's superior in a way.

Also, most anime make side series, that are not in the manga, so that it doesn't catch up (it has a name for it, but I honestly can't remeber), which makes manga readers kinda pissed (something about having a somewhat lower quality in story, which is true, but people really exagerate)

And I forgot, but like FireRubies said, Marvel and DC are very famous, and are not overshadowed by manga.

5) Skottie Young

7) Alex Ross

 

8) paolo rivera

 and i can keep going with artist that use different styles.

 

but you know what they all look the same

I'm generally not a fan of the manga art style (mostly due to the exagerated proportions and expressions), but that's more a personal taste than anything. I guess it ultimately boils down to what floats your boat in art.

Neither are better or worse or overrated, is a matter of taste, both schools have their strong and weak points, and both have a lot of different artists with unique styles.

To tell the truth, i don't even think there's any way to say which one is best. It's really a matter of what people like.
