Hello, everyone. As many of you may know, I'm atheist/agnostic. Some people at my school found out and now I'm being made fun because of it. My dad's advice was just to keep my religion quiet, but I refuse to do that: to me, that's like admitting defeat. I need advice as to counteract this. Please help.

They can make fun of you for that? o.O wow. Society today. I really think that if it's bad you should tell someone, a teacher, principal, something about it so that it gets taken care of and hopefully they stop  

Smite them.

Home schooling.

Move.

Become a terrorist.

I think it's a better answer to ignore them. You do have a right to your religion. If it's really getting to you, tell your father about how you feel like its a defeat to not accept your religion. Or you can get help from teachers or your principal school, the point is to tell someone about who's bullying you and for what reason they are, I'm sure you'll pull through ^^

Who cares what they think, just do what you've always done and just tell them to get over it. If they don't like it then tough D:<<

Well I am "Cosmic Bapist Christian"-SSR-; however, be warned by my brothers they do horrid things. 

Here is what you do: Make the biggest stand you can. You will need for them to say something, a good stare preferably a glare, and crypticly yell at them. X]

So you're getting bullied for not following a religion? That's very strange, if not the opposite of what I thought more common. Do you go to a Catholic school, or a different religious school? 

I went to a Catholic school, and we had a small number of atheists, Greek Orthodox and other different christian denominations. Even a Muslim I think. And they never received any bullying. So I find this unusual. 

I don't find it that unusual considering that Atheism has a bad rep attached to it. I find that most of the hate stems from whether or not you believe the stereotype.

Well if they're attacking you for not being religious, then you need to remind them since they are religious that the Bible says to be nice to everyone. 

As a Cathlic my best advice is for you to ignore it. If it gets out of hand you can always tell a teacher or an adult you trust. And you don't have to hide your beliefs. If you don't believe that's fine. In this world it can be difficult when it comes to religion. Some people in the Church go to far when it comes to atheists and some atheists go to far on religion. We just need to be ourselves and accept our differences. I'm proud to be Catholic no matter what anyone says and you should do the same with your atheism. People always take this matter too far; we believe what we belive in and we should respect the belies of others.

Pay no heed to them. If people following a religion that tells them to be peaceful are doing the exact opposite of that, they're just ignorant prats that are worth nothingFollow what you believe is best, freewill exists for a reason.

My Wiccaning always just turns up jokes, but you can't just play along with bullying. Beyond reporting to an authority figure... honestly, I just used my size to scare the hell out of everyone against me.

 

Take the most popular advice: screw those guys, and bring it to the boys in charge.

_{I'm pretty sure atheism isn't a religion.} Religion or a lack thereof is one of those things that people will make fun of you no matter what you do.  If you were Christian, I'm sure some less pleasant atheists would get on your case about it, just as religious folks are getting on yours.  I can't really offer any solutions except to be the better man and not let them get to you.  I mean, there will always be people who'll make fun of you for what you think (for instance, there are people who would mock me for not considering eating glass more pleasant than watching shows about colorful ponies), so you might as well stand your ground and say stuff like, "So what if I'm an atheist?  Big whoop."  Or throw the bible back at them because if God made you the way you were, why get on your case about it?

People are people; they sneer at differences.  The minority will always get picked on by the majority.  It's the way it's always been, and probably will be the way it always is.  If you want to be proud of your beliefs, I wouldn't hide it when asked, but I wouldn't offer it to everyone I see, either.  I'm rather passionate about my beliefs, but I don't tend to broadcast them unless the topic arises and someone asks.  People love to pick on others when they're different from them, and I just don't think there's much you can do to change that.  Just stay strong and keep your head up, and don't take what they say too literally.  If the bullying becomes too much I'd report it to a teacher.

Just go to the principal. they will help you out.

oh great. now theres a bit of racism going on. your atheist? dont believe in god? well i do and the way i see it there is nothing wrong with being an atheist. ill have to say i got bullied just because i play Pokemon. trust me people have the weirdest reasons for bullying. like everyone else said go tell a trusted adult. and dont resort to violence. it doesn't help. people need to start respecting others for their religion. its not right to bully. and there is a reason why people get depressed. just read this. trust me its 100% true. it is pretty much why we can feel happy, unhappy, angry etc.
