Theories on connections between Riku and Xehanort

Posted

I find it strange how simalar Riku and MX are both in appearance and in thought.

MX and Riku both wanted to leave the islands and neither shun the darkness.

Not to mention they both have white/grayish hair. Some people say that there is some sort of family connection, but Nomura has said there will be no strange family ties in Kingdom Hearts. There is only one other explanation that I can think of and it is that when MX went to Destiny Islands to drop off Ven, he also willingly split part of his heart while he was there. He then managed to place it inside 1 year old Riku. This explains why Riku looks so much like young Xehanort. There is obvioulsy some sort of physical change when another heart enters someone else's body which is proved in Aprentice Xehanort. This could also explain how Riku knew of the outside worlds and wanted to go to them. More evidence is that this how Ansem SoD found Riku in the first place. If Ansem SoD could recognize part of his own heart, he could have used the part of MX heart to sway Riku to darkness in KH1. MX's heart is also how the darkness of Ansem SoD still hid in Riku's heart in CoM. When Riku used the darkness to defeat Roxas, he used not only his own darkness but MX's as well. He only appeared to be Ansem SoD because of it being Ansem SoD who activated the MX's darkness in the first place. If my theory is correct, than this could be what MX meant by having many roads to take. MX could use his heart in Aprentice Xehanort's body to transfer over to Riku using the piece of his heart he left behind in Riku. This would turn him into MX's new host and he would continue to be young and have time to acomplish his plans. In short, part of MX still lives inside Riku and could be used to help MX countinue to be young in some future game.

Okay, I really doubt this would heppen. It doesn't even make sense.

I agree that there is a connection between MX and Riku, but I'm not sure it is this. It is possible, but I don't think so.

I seriously doubt this. Placing his heart in a 1 year old Riku? Nah.

You do have to wonder why MX went to Destiny Islands in the first place though.

MX usually doesn't do something nice unless it benefits himself in the process, so why would he go out of his way?

Why should MX travel all the way to Destiny Islands just to let someone he considered to be a "feckless neophyte" rest in peace?

I highly doubt MX didn't do something else while he was there, especially since we never saw when MX left Destiny Islands with Ven.

For all we know MX could have stayed at Destiny Islands for a few days while Ven recovered, and who knows what he could have done there.

MX took Ven to Destiny Islands because MX could still use Ven to make X-Blade. Destiny Island was a good place to leave him cause nothing happens there.

Now, that does not mean MX did not have another reason for going or took the opportunity to do something else.

Right. Let's see here. I doubt that MX split his heart and put it inside of Riku.

Reason 1- There has never been any info that someone could split their hearts, except when Ventus' darkness and light were split and doing this caused huge damage to his heart, and it needed repaired by Sora.

Reason 2- MX visited at night, only went to the actual island and not where the homes are and Riku was about two years old or younger. Probably in his cot sleeping or crying for his mummy. Not a great load of potential there either, if MX did see him.

Reason 3- The incident was not mentioned at all in MX's reports.

Reason 4- If he had chosen Terra as his new body, then why did he not go back to get his heart. (Although, I can see that this could be MX's back-up plan.)

Riku and MX do have a connection however. Other than appearance. Terra and Zexion both thought that Riku was similar to MX and Xemnas. The connection will hopefully be revealed soon, but I don't think this is it.

I was interested in what you had to say... until you said MX split his heart and put it in RIku. That doesn't make any sense to me. And as for why MX was on Destiny Islands? He says in his report that Ven was dying and he decided to take him to a quiet place for his last moments. He also knew of Destiny Islands because it was once his own home.

Okay this is the best answer so far. Xehanort splitting his heart into Riku? Doesn't make that much sense if you think about it.

I doubt it or Ansem SOD would have already had a way into his heart instead of persuading RIku to do his bidding and controlling Riku from there.

I think the connection is Terra.

Y'know, I've partly wondered this myself.  It would certainly seem that some link between Master Xehanort and Riku ties them together, though I'm unsure of what myself.  I've found it odd that Riku's latest hairstyle strikingly resembles Young Master Xehanort's, but there were also a few more things down the road that got me curious.  Terra and Riku's encounter being one.  I found it...odd that Riku always desired to explore the outside worlds, but even more odd that he knew of the man who left the island.  Maybe the legacy of Master Xehanort's just known all throughout Destiny Islands?  I don't know, but that's definitely mind-boggling for sure.

Also, did you notice who voiced Young Master Xehanort in Birth by Sleep?  Or, I suppose it's not affirmed, but it looks like Riku's voice actor, David Gallagher had.  If this is true...it makes me wonder if the two characters are closer linked than one could assume.

I'm not too sure if Xehanort would've really split his heart with Riku, though...  I would've thought we'd see some more hints to that in Dream Drop Distance if it were the case, since there were really a lot of openings.  Before Dream Drop Distance came out, I'd initially thought Riku would be Master Xehanort's next vessel, but in turns out that theory was incorrect.

All-in-all, I do believe there's some connection, but I don't quite think we've found it yet...

This makes no sense whatsoever.

The only thing Riku and Ansem have in common is their hair. If Riku was his vessel, he would have dark skin and yelllow eyes. It's coincidence. Also, it's something called fate that make them think similar. It's what rules of KH Universe.

Also, Xehanort clearly stated on KH3D that he wanted Riku to become a vessel, but he developed the skill to overcome darkness. This wasn't known at the time you posted, but it stills refute your theory.

Riku knew the "tale" of the boy who left the islands, and he wanted to meet the outside worlds as well. That's why he wanted, nothing more. He also met Terra, who told him that it was true (inderectly)

Ansem SoD is just a parasite that gets a hold of people's hearts and never leaves. there's nothing to do with MX darkness.

Also, i didn't play BbS myself, but I remeber reading MX Reports, and he says he wanted to give Ven a good place to sleep in his last days alive, that's why he went to Destiny Islands.

Reaaaaaaaaaaallly doubt it

 this doesnt even make sense..

why should xehanort put his heart into 1 year old Riku?

And if that happened well then Riku could not have light in him because Xehanort's heart  is only darkness

Some people say that there is some sort of family connection, but Nomura has said there will be no strange family ties in Kingdom Hearts.

When did he say this? Can someone give me a link or something?

Anybody here ever hear of Voldemort? Duhhh.

Wow... I never expected this thread to survive this long. This thread is almost two years old. I fully accept now that there are certainly parts of this that don't make sense. I still think that it's an interesting idea though.

So is there actually any connection between Riku and Xehanort other than the whole Ansem SoD inside of RIku. Like when Terra was at Destiny Islands and saw a vision of Riku, he saw a young version of Xehanort. There has to be a reason for that. Theories anyone?

not that we know of. I think the reason he saw young Xehanort is because of YMX being on Destiny islands.

I dont think there really is a connection between the two, but i could be wrong

-- What's the meaning behind the several puzzling images in Terra's chapter where we cross over into his mind?

Nomura: Firstly, when he hears the name of the masked boy from Master Xehanort at the mysterious wasteland, and we see an image of Aqua and Ventus defeated, that's a hint of the future. On the Destiny Islands, when he makes Riku his successor, he has a special view of him and catches a glimpse of his future. However, this isn't to say that Terra has the ability to see the future - it was a directive nuance intended to portray the future connection between Terra and Riku.

There is no special meaning other than they are both from DI and both wanted to leave the islands to see other worlds..Terra's vision was just foreshadowing whats to come and how they were basically alike in certain ways and following a similiar path.

A theory I've had for a while now is that Riku is Xehanort's grandson.

Nomura has already said none of the main characters in KH are related ( not counting secondary characters like Kairi's grandma)
