(Some minor ground rules; respect other players, never simply give yourself an unfair advantage, mix things up if you wish, and given the nature of the secrets on the island, if you wish to have an enviornment described for you by me, simply end a post with your character looking upon an envionrment or opening a door and end with a "...")

So it begins.

I have gathered them here. They know nothing yet. That will change soon. I wonder how they will take to each other. Time will tell. Regardless, no more time can be wasted. The Experiment must now begin. Time to wake them up...

"Good morning. Welcome to the next part of your life."

The voice rang out in all of their ears. Earpieces, firmly attached in the ears of all of them. Inside came the unnerving and unnaturally changed voice on the other end. One by one, after hearing the voice, each of the subjects began to wake. Lying on the shore of a short beach was Yumi Yuki Ai, Ember Mors, Luce Angelo, Hazimie Azhar, and Rasiel Kasaragi. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

Miles away lay an abandoned collection of bunkers and buildings. They surrounded an airstrip. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay several more people. Ren Cabret, Neisan, Kilek North, Tsuna Sasaki, and Sikota Urinakano. Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four other subjects; Robert Evans, Karu Kasaragi, Fulmen Aizen, Xander Steel, and Locke Stern. Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an imaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

On this island the Experiment is to be conducted. The island itself is only a few miles across, but its jungles, beaches, and bunkers hold long-kept secrets. These people now find themselves as part of a deadly game. They will have to get to know each other, and work together to discover what is sought from them, and in the process they must learn what they seek themselves.

The voice buzzed through their earpeices once more.

"Time to wake up. The Experiment has begun. You won't want to be asleep for this... Wake up and meet your new friends... and enemies. Wake up...

...the game has begun."

Xi turned and looked through the glass pane through Kijiya. The room they were in was dark, with three segments, one in which Xi resided, one where Kijiya was, and the last segment was the area that Sylar was at before going up.

"Do not be angry at them, they only wish for survival. Perhaps it is foolish to believe they will, but it is that dedication that drives my experiment. I doubt they shall all survive, though, don't worry. You will have the chance to destroy them... but if you watch carefully you will see how much capability they have to destroy themselves."

Xi was only a silhouette, a bright light emanated from behind him, his face was continually obscured and he sat at a desk far behind the pane of glass.

"Watch Kijiya, and see what I may do with only words."

(I posted as Ember too MDS)

(I still have nothing to do.)

(I still have nothing to do.)

(At least Yumi gets to sleep though, right??)

(Forever,thou?)

(Ha ha, no. Just a little nap)

(I know Joshua was buried...)

Rasiel was silent for a second, looking at Xander again, her calming down some.

"Karu was born two years older then me. I was bullied because of my childish and immature ways. When I got into a school with him, that soon stopped and I stayed around Karu. About three years ago, my father was found on the road dead, he committed suicide. My mother was devastated and didn't take care of me and Karu anymore, leaving Karu to watch over me. I was dragged into dating-sim video games to drown my depression, Karu became rather aggravated. At this point, we weren't going to school and Karu was helping me and my mother. He destroyed one of my games and my system, he found his powers like this. I grew mad at him, finding my power, the ability to turn into a complete-opposite version of myself, my demon form. That same week, I found my power of shape-shifting, and Karu got me a good coverup to shape shift with..." Rasiel explained, looking in some of her pockets, she found a small, stuffed pink rabbit identical to her shape-shifted form.

"This is the original thing Karu gave me." she said, holding it.

Rasiel placed it in her lap, looking at the ground again.

"Karu found his ability to read emotions imminently after dad died...he didn't tell me that until later. Karu had vowed to protect me, and he did so. Even if putting a collar around my neck to stop me from being like my mom helped. He protected me...he protected me so much he killed himself for me. I guess you say that me and him were true twincest..." she said, a small smile on her face.

Rasiel stood up, pulling Xander up she held onto his hand AGAIN.

"Let's go, okay?" she said, feeling a bit relived she got all of that information out of her head.

(long post...)

[so that's why she's so messed up.] He thought. "All right guys, let's get going."

(As per Xaldin III's request, Luce is gonna be considered dead from here on out. Consider him killed in the battle with Isaac before he was disabled.)

Ember looked through the door to find...

that the room she stepped into wasn't a room at all. She was stepping into... an underground tram. There was dim lighting all around, but it was certainly an underground transport. There was seats lining the walls, and little space in the center isle. It was like a single car of a subway train. On the far side from the door she entered there was a pane of glass that peered into  a dark tunnel that shot forward through the underground rail system somewhere else on the island. Under the pane of glass were two buttons.

"You have a choice, Ember." Xi's voice came in right on cue. "You have a choice of who it is on this island that you shall help. The button on the left shall take you to the group bereaved with the pain of loss, and the uncertainty of where they go now. It is likely that they may not survive the trials ahead. The button on the right shall take you to a single person, this person is almost certainly assured an unfortunate death, but they brought it upon themselves. You are now able to aid whichever you want, but you cannot aid both."

"The left button, and you zoom to help the uncertain group, the right button and you move to aid the solitary one who lost. The choice is yours. Who will you aid?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the shack, with Lira, Ren, Kilek, Tsuna, and Neisan, a voice that had gone quite a while back suddenly sprang back into their ears.

"Your break is over. Make your choices, decide you allies, and move. The next test awaits. It is one better dealt with in a group."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The elevator hung open for a moment. Joshua was now buried, it was time to see what was next.

"Climb aboard and simply press the button within. I know you must be anxious to meet me."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Past the gate Fulmen found himself on a road leading forward towards a single small military building. Flanking the building were rows of missile pods.

"This test will be easy Fulmen, you were the winner after all, I don't wish to push you too hard yet. Within the building before you is a single electrical conduit. It is wired to activate the missiles you see around you when given only a bit of electricity. All you need to do is activate it using your powers, and the missiles will go off. It is the only way forward, and a simple way at that, don't you think? The missiles have a specific target; a shack on the far side of the island. Within this shack are- or should I saw might be- a small group of people. You see, you were not the only group on the island as you may have guessed. You are to activate the missiles, which shall target the shack. There is the possibility of collateral damage, but why should you care? You only need to make it forward. Simply going into the house, and activate the missile pods. A simple test. See, like condemning Yumi, doing what needs to be done has it's perks."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Yumi" the voice trailed off. "Yumi. It's time to wake up. Your test will begin very soon. Your friends are coming to help you out with it...."

Xi's voice rang through the shack, one that filled Ren with dread.

Your break is over. Make your choices, decide you allies, and move. The next test awaits. It is one better dealt with in a group.

Ren let out a sigh, brushing his auburn bangs from his face as he turned to his companions.  "I don't know who this guy really is, but whether he's Sikota or no,t I think we ought to trust him.  We do better in numbers and considering Kilek's current condition"--he gestured towards the teen in the corner, whose leg was casted and would be difficult to move--"it wouldn't hurt to have another ally on our side."

The flames completely disappeared this time and Tsuna sighed. ".....Fine" she said to Ren and crossed her arms. She still couldn't get over the fact that this Sikota lookalike knew everything about him, which annoyed her even more. Sikota's dead and i know it, she thought, taking another good look at the person. Then she looked over to Ren and Neisan.

"As...as if I'm going to fire upon a shack of people..?" Fulmen coughed, looking around. There's got to be some way to divert the missiles...but I certainly do not trust myself, or even Xi right now. Fulmen thought, looking ahead to the house before him.

"W-what do you mean...by 'condemning Yumi'...?" Fulmen then rasped, "If she dies....hell, if anyone dies because of me...I don't think I'll last much longer." Fulmen murmured, falling to his knees. Everything hurt, and the impending decision began to crush his heart.

Yumi awoke to Xi's voice. "Fully.." She muttered before remember what she had did.

"Oh..yeah! I chose to stay behind." She sighed and got up.

"I..just hope it was the right thing." She said slowly.

"You made the hard decision Fulmen, don't feel bad for it. Now you can do it again. The people in that shack will... surely look after themselves. Sometimes there's not another way. Consider and make your choice."

The military building stood silently before Fulmen, inviting him.

"It's your choice, Fulmen, or rather, the illusion of one."

(Whew, it worked!! And sorry, just making sure)

Xander sat, looking at her intently as she spoke. He gave a faint smile when she pulled out the little rabbit. After she she pulled him up he spoke

"Ok....I'm sorry about your parents.. and about Karu" He said seriously. "But now.. your burdens are mine too. And that's how it'll be from now on" He was smiling now, as he gave her hand a tiny squeeze

Then Xi's voice came on the earpiece

"Hey, before we go.. I wanna try something"

(It's not a kiss!! Don't worry)

"You're acting as if I have had a choice....I had to save Yumi, there was no other option. You're acting as if I've brought this upon myself. How? Just who are you Xi...to..to say that I've made mistakes?" Fulmen asked, looking ahead at the infernal house.

Is it possible for me to reroute the missile pods? I could try and detonate them in the ocean...or even find Xi's hiding spot. Fulmen thought, freezing. Or..I could accidentally kill myself.

Fulmen felt about ready to die right there, but he still walked a few feet ahead. "What do I do..?" He whispered.

"You're looking for a way out Fulmen. Has it ever occurred to you that there is not one? You left Yumi because you had to, did you not? The house contains one more lesser surprise, too, Fulmen. Guilt is a tough thing. You must be tougher."

Xi's voice cut off. After a few moments he added one last comment.

"Don't die. If you are so angry at what has happened, then do not rest until you have stopped me. Live for something, do not die for anything. Not yet."

Fulmen smiled, chuckling to himself. "Alright...Xi. You win. I'll go into the god-forsaken house." Fulmen looked at the hut, trudging towards it. I just want to see everyone again. Damn it. Fulmen thought, reaching the building.

"Be tougher, eh? Xi, you're confusing. One moment you're a diabolical fiend...and now you're cheering me on...giving me moral advice." Fulmen commented, worried that this might be one horrid trap. As if he had any other way to go, though. Xi was right. There was no way out.

With that, Fulmen entered the house to find...

Ember walked a little farther into the room while listening to Xi's voice. After he was done, she slowly nodded. The choice was obvious. Ember knew that the group might have gone through loss, but she had been through worse. And they had each other. So the one who was alone would need her more. She walked over to the button on the right. "Well Xi, I've made my choice." She said, and pushed the button.

(Things are just getting confusing and interesting...)

Neisan lowered his arms. "Let us not forget that this could be a trick of Xi's." Neisan went back into the shack and picked up Kilek, making sure not to disturb his sleep or his leg. "Let's go." He began trudging away from the shack.

Fulmen entered the house to find...

a blank interior. On the far side from the entrance was the single thing left; two metal spheres that were connected via wires to something underground below the house. The two spheres were no doubt electrical contacts, meant so that someone could put a hand on both and use it to transfer electricity through the wires to wherever it was that that the electricity was flowing.

Suddenly sound began to blare out through speakers built into the walls. It was an unfamiliar male voice, he seemed to be recording something for a record.

"Subject Two was terminated tonight. We were hoping to take both Subject One and Subject Two into custody and continue our research, but Subject One anticipated our course of action and set up an unexpected escape route from the meeting point. Thompson and I gave chase. Orders were clear; we either took both subjects into custody or terminated them. We opened fire as we were about to lose sight of them, and struck Subject Two twice. Subject One attempted to take Subject Two with him, but Subject Two was badly injured, and when we were nearly to their location, Subject One gave up any attempt at saving his brother and ran. We were unable to locate Subject One. We removed as much evidence of our involvement as possible and left the location immediately. We're still searching for Subject One, he is our top priority. Due to his ability, he is considered highly dangerous, if we don't find him soon... he'll be the one to find us. We're considering this operation a failure and attempting any cleanup procedure we can. I repeat, Phillip is dead, we're pursuing older brother Thomas, update on cleanup to come in three days."

The house was then quiet.

"You see," Xi's voice was far more subdued than the sound of the speakers, "doing what's necessary is not always evil, Fulmen. Sometimes it is survival."

There was a pause, and a feeling like one last bit of information was coming next.

"You wanted a choice, Fulmen? Very well. If you induce a minor current into the metallic conductors in front of you the missiles will fire as intended. If you put every ounce of energy that you have into the conductor, however, there is a chance that it will overload the system. If the system becomes overloaded, all the missiles will automatically detonate without firing. They are very close to this building, and the explosion will not be without consequence. You may become badly injured. Is that a risk you are willing to take? Are you so happy to have a choice now? Regardless, it is time to make a decision."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ember's tram suddenly rocketed into motion. The dim lights suddenly came alive and the tram began to speed through the dark tunnels on an unseen rail.

"Interesting choice. I hope you're ready to find out what lies on the other side of this tunnel."

Humm stood. "We meed to get going." He said. He limped towards the elevator.

"Dang." The shadowy figure said. "It would see that they're gong to have the final confrontation without me." He pulled harder. "I'd better try and catch... Up!" Another chain snapped. He had loosened himself from several at this point. But dozens upon hundreds were binding him from all sides.
