So i think it was implied that Yen Sid had Sora and Riku time travel to Destiny Islands at the start of their journey, but were they able to time travel because of Yen Sid's magic? We know from YX that one can gain the ability to time travel by freely giving up their body. Sora willingly gave up his body to save Kairi, and while Riku probably did not want to lose his body he DID let Ansem into his body which caused him to lose his body later. So by the laws of the KH universe can sora and riku time travel on their own?

i don't think it was implied ... At any moment. And for you to travel, and you have to CURRENTLY "be" without a body, not have given up anytime previously in the past.

So they can't time travel on their own.

Yen Sid was only able to send Sora and Riku back in time with his magic bc they had past versions of themselves existing at that point in time ..It's not that they are just randomly time traveling as they please. This was also stated several times in game by YMX and Xigbar as to why they could do this as well..

Well why doesn't Xehanort just travel back to the point where Terra gave the Keyblade to Riku and kill both Sora and Riku? Since Terra and Xehanort are combined, he technically should be able to go there... Besides, they already know that neither will work as vessels, so might as well dispose of your greatest threat but you know, that'd be too easy.

For one ,bc it was stated you can't change the past when you do this (time travel) .It's one of the rules of time travel stated in game. Secondly, MX was basically still trying to make Riku his vessel in DDD till they realised he couldn't be used and then they tried to use Sora as the back up ,That was their whole plan in DDD

It took Xehanort an entire game to do nothing but spoil his plans. What a guy...

No because he was always meant to grow up and do everything he was suppose to do .It's like an endless time loop. As for Sora and Riku no they cannot do it on their own bc they needed Yen Sids magic to do it in the first place .They did not personally possess the power to do it , Yen Sid sent them back in time with HIS MAGIC .

One thing that confuses me is... They went back in time, in.. a dream? I think, or do they have to dream in order to go back in time, and Save the worlds that fell into sleep, so..... But.. Tron's world is in the Future but... they went back in time and... *brain implodes*I actually thought I had a grasp on KH Time travel but it seems I don't understand at all.Or.... Did they. go back and.. but then.. i'll stop now..

The worlds they go to are in the present. A world may be futuristic or set in the past. Bust that world is in its present timeline so when Sora, Riku or anyone else travel to a world they aren't really time traveling.

That's basically it. Sora's and Riku's clothes did change by Yen Sid's magic so it's safe to assume that the time travel was Yen Sid's assistance.

Space Paranoids was a copy of the ENCOM system from Tron. Kevin Flynn created the Grid separately from the ENCOM system, as his own little pet project.

well either way they are two separate worlds and my point was that even though Space Paranoids is accessible in KH2 its fine  for the Grid to be a sleeping world in KH3D

I think they Yen Sid helped them, but even if they could they can't alter events that were destined to happen so I'm not sure what they would do

if they can go to other points in time can they also travel around the worlds of that time period? cuz then Sora could like see aqua again and maybe find out where Ven is by following aqua around.
