Anyone else think Testuya Nomura ruined square.

Posted

I like Square but ever since final fantasy 7 the art design has never changed, and I don't really like the art design. Kingdom Hearts has become stagnate and a handheld fest. Square is out of place right now, who do you think ruined square?

Honestly, Nomura is one of the few good things Square still has going for them. He's the only one who releases titles that are consistantly good, and his art style, while familiar, is responsible for some extremely memorable character designs. His biggest flaw is he sucks at multitasking, and fails to give consistant updates on his titles, but he hasn't ruined Square.

His decisions like yanking the Kingdom Hearts team to work on a Final Fantasy game was stupid. I don't remember who use to run square but I wish Nomura would of stayed with Kingdom Hearts only.

So no.

Nahh.

Two reasons: KH and TWEWY

Keep in mind. SQUARE ENIX publishes a lot of titles and as far as producing one would have to look them up.

Not all games with SQUARE ENIX in the corner is "made by" SQUARE ENIX.

I personally I love Nomura-san's ideas

No...He's awesome! ^_^

Tetsuya is probably my favorite artist, but as for his flaws, I digress.He does have his problems, I didn't appreciate the face that he thought up the KH story as we went along, but hey, he's a human being like the rest of us, and I would probably have done something similar if i was the writer, so it does not bother me. I don't believe he ruined Square, but people usually tend to like the origins of something rather than the how it is today. {Example, Sonic the Hedgehog and Pokemon.}

No, that was a good move. The bad move was that Square announced it 7 years earlier than they should have.

Now say that again. (you may have to zoom out for the last one)

Once a person finds a style they're comfortable with of course they're going to keep using it. It's like handwriting, it develops gradually over time and eventually becomes a part of who the person is. As unique to the individual as a finger print. Look at Akira Toriyama, anything that has his art you recognize at a glance.

Besides there are a lot more important things than one man's art style ruining square that he has no say in. Why do you think they got a new president? They were not running the financial part of the business well. They were making overly-optimistic sales predictions and spending budgets that reflected them.

Nomura made Square better

Nomura has sustained Square Enix!!!  How could you say that Square has been ruined because of him!?  He created Kingdom Hearts, and he's released KH games constantly, which has in turn earned Square lots of money! Even though Nomura is basically trolling us into waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3, I defend this great but trolling addict man! D:

Nomura is/was a good choice for Square Enix...But it was a huge fail for announcing Final Fantasy Versus XIII 7 years early D:

No one person ruined square enix.

To me they wanted to cater more towards western audiences and lost focus on the way.

I was gonna say something, but this perfectly sums up what I was thinking. At least for the "Square" department. FFXIII was purposely supposed to cater to Western audiences, but it fell flat on their faces and divided the broken fanbase even more. That, and blowing all of their money on Spirits Within, but whatever.

Enix is awesome, though. Dragon Quest never lost focus of what it used to be, while still bringing in more Western ideas like online play and whatever. And Fortune Street is too legit to quit, but that's a different story.

Anyway, yeah. Blame the growing Western-developed game market if you want someone to blame, not Nomura.

Yep, stay with the lower selling franchise. Great idea you got there.

Come on, Final Fantasy is the 9th best selling franchise of all time, with Kingdom Hearts in the 70s.

Plus, with several well-recieved games and the hype for FFVXIII (which there is A LOT of hype for) you're in a minority.

Yeah. They just started Production in 2011, but announced it in 2006, when they hadn't even released XIII-1 until 2009!!! They told us way too long before they should've.

Yep, exactly.

Guys, just because Nomura is making Vs. XIII and holding up KH3, it isn't his fault. Its Squares fault, since they announced it way too early.
