May 13, 201312 yr No. Statutory rape would actually involve sleeping with a minor. Looking at them in a sexual manner is legal, but creepy. I knew someone who got done for statutory rape who was 25 sleeping with minors and knocked up 2 when he fully aware of their age since he knew their mothers.

Well a couple years ago my 20 year-old friend was dating a 16 year-old and and had to break up with him to avoid legal issues, so just dating can be a problem.

But it's still not statutory rape unless they are having sexual activity . However whenever you are an adult dating a minor other issues can be brought up that can cause problems but actually committing statutory rape needs to involve sex.
