Days vs re:Coded vs Dream Drop Distance

Posted

Your probably thinking (idk what you are thinking) why is dream drop distance in this. Well these games where all on Nintendo systems (I didn't forget Chains of Memories, I just didn't want it on this) so let's see which one is better.

It will be decided by

Story

Gameplay

and General Review

You can choose a number from one to ten

so

Days-

Story=10

gameplay=5

general review-7

Dream Drop Distance

Days-
Story= 8 (Introduces elements that are crucial to plot, but drags on way too much)
gameplay=6 (Was very bland and tedious)
general review=8 (Good OST, memorable characters, and great graphics for DS game)

Re:coded
story= 5 (The only part that seems to matter to the overall plot of the series is the Secret Ending)
gameplay=8 (Improvement over last DS installment)
general review= 6 (Least memorable in the series imo)

Dream Drop Distance
story=9.5 (Pushes the overall story more forward, but the introduction of time travel gets that .5 taken away
gameplay=9 (I didn't like how forced the touch screen parts felt)
general review=10 (Best looking 3ds game, best music out of the three (except for xion's theme), and most action-oriented one)

Best story: Days

Best gameplay, general review, soundtracks and character development: 3D

re:coded has the most variety gameplay. And the best customize setting.

Well I can't do Re:Codded since I haven't played it yet, but I will say my vote goes to Days.

Days

Story: 6 (Decent story, it was one of the main factors after all)

Gameplay: 5 (The gameplay was a bit obnoxious, I hated cure/cura/curaga the most)

General Review: 6 (OST is good, characters are not too shabby, but the annoying gameplay and some parts are a bit dull held it back)

Re:Coded

Story: 2 (It barely had a story, like seriously. The secret ending was predictable too.)

Gameplay: 8 (It was good, I felt it was a bit of a downgrade from BBS but it added some new mechanics and the FF like battles were interesting.)

General Review: 5 (I didn't like it that much, I really felt bored throughout the entire game and I felt like getting it over with rather than enjoying it. The gameplay is good but what I really wanted was the story, which wasn't worked on much.)

Dream Drop Distance

Story: 7.5 (It had a good story, but it felt very rushed. All of information was just packed at the end. In CoM they at least gave snips of information throughout the game, but in 3D they just hid it and threw it at you at the end.)

Gameplay: 8.5 (It had really great gameplay, and it was pretty hard defeating some bosses which made me enjoy it even further. Flowmotion is a bit overpowered, and some Dream Eaters just take forever to kill, especially in The World That Never Was. Also the worlds were gigantic but lifeless, that was a major pet peeve of mine while playing through it.)

General Review: 8.5 (Great OST, great characters, great worlds, great gameplay, good story, but you can see that it seems rushed. It's definitely a fun game but it could've been better. If it had life throughout the game then I would've possibly liked it more than BBS.)

Days -

Story - 8. The story aspects introduced were all good, as well as giving a very interesting perspective into the Organization and into the characters.

Gameplay - 5. The actual gameplay, in terms of combat, was very good. The panel system was actually pretty cool, and while the magic was a bit limited it was a very interesting spin. It's the mission system that was awful. Whatever goodness of the combat was lost in the repetition and boredom of the game. Out of the hundreds of missions, almost none of them were unique from each other.

General Review - The good combat along with the fantastic story, amazing OST, and good characters are enough to warrant it a 7.5. The repetition of the missions is horrible enough to deprive it of 2.5's points.

Re:coded -

Story - The story doesn't contribute a whole lot to the overarching saga, almost becoming the true spin off of the bunch. But it still offers enough to be counted as a legitimate entry. I give it a 5.

Gameplay - The gameplay of re:coded I think is actually quite good. The flow of combat is good on its own, using a very nice spin on the BBS' combat system. It is also broken up quite well by the minigahme-ish segments. I give it an 8.

General Review - The meh story and the good combat come together to give it... 6. The combat is fun but it still isn't quite fulfilling as, ultimately. the story is worthless.

Dream Drop Distance -

Story - Whether you like the story or not, you cannot deny that it contributed to the saga, unlike coded. And you can't deny that it did deliver a few doozies in terms of it's revelations. I give it an 8.

Gameplay - The gameplay of DDD is amazing. The flowmotion is brilliant and I personally love the drop system. It's very very good. 9.5.

General Review - It pushes the story along, setting up KH3, while also giving you a nice recap of whats already happened. The gameplay is fantastic. The OST isn't as good as what previous games have offered, however. All in all, I give it a 9.
