I swear that I am the only one that feels this way about it...

 

Here is what is preventing me from fully understanding the story:

 

-I am now unable to watch the cut-scenes for reasons that I cannot properly explain.

-I only own three of the games (Days, Re: Coded and DDD), and have only finished two (Re: Coded and DDD), with no desire to finish the third.

-The Disney worlds are a waste of time, and I hate Disney.

-I have only been interested in the series for just over a year.

-Even official sources give misinformation (e.g. the 'Chronicles' section of DDD said that Sora and Riku were trapped in the Realm of Darkness after fighting Xemnas).

-I do not know what interviews to read.

-I have too many questions.

 

Can I have any possible advice, apart from asking questions?

Well, it would not be wise for me to start that argument again. To be honest, 'hate' feels too strong a word to me, but I do generally dislike Disney's role in the series.

Yeah it *CAN* feel a bit out of place. But I still like the childishness of it i tend ta like childish things  and maybe you outta play chain of memories it kinda fits in with the story well in that game IMO

But um, is it possible to buy a new game? That might give you a lot of new information, you could for example buy the new 1.5 and you'd get KH1, COM and the Days cinematics, so you even could get to know the story of Days even though you're not interested in finishing playing it! But if you don't want to spend that much money on it, or if you do not own PS3, it's understandable not to want to do that. If you have PS2, I think it's possible to find some cheap used KH games in stores in the net. Kingdom Hearts 1 or 2 might give you a lot of answers. And if you've got PSP instead, you might want to get BBS.

 

If you can't buy a game you might want to watch the KH timeline which came out a while ago and I think you should be able to find a link to it on the KH13 site somewhere. I haven't actually watched it myself yet, but I'd quess that could explain the series a little.

I do know the stories of the other games. I have paid attention to all of the KH games that currently exist; it is just that there are some parts and details of the games; some major, others minor, that I find to be very confusing. Sora's memories in Days is a prime example of this; at least in my case.

I like the series because of its story, even though I find it to be painfully confusing.

I have thought about buying KH1, KH2 and Re: CoM; as I have been given a PS2, but as I have said, the Disney worlds get in the way of this.

You need to play KH1 and KH2. Honestly it sounds like KH just isn't a series that suits you, and you would probably be better off just reading about it online. I hate FFXIII, but I don't mind the storyline. It could have made a great movie.

they ended up in the same place that Ansem the Wise and Aqua reached in Birth by Sleep

Could you maybe elaborate on what's confusing you about this specific part? Myself and plenty of others on this forum can help explain any part you're confused. And I completely agree with the person somewhere up that way ^ that said to watch Timeline.

Well, if it helps any, I played the first 30 minutes of Kingdom Hearts II at a friends house, then went home and looked up Kingdom Hearts. It took me at least a year (without a game, because I had no system at the moment) to know each and every detail of Kingdom Hearts. Now I pre-order every game and have played every game at least twice through to this day.

You are not.The Chronicles section gives a recap of past games; it does not exclusively give you information on DDD. There is no misinformation; merely misunderstanding.

It is not strictly part of the realm of darkness but rather what serves as the boundary line in between the dark and the in-between. In the ending, Sora and Riku were on the coast on the in-between side and were looking at the sea of the realm of darkness. The door visible in the dark sea is a scene that symbolizes "Deep within the darkness, there is light", as Sora said in the previous KH.

When I first began playing KH I was in the same boat as you (minus the hating Disney part)....mass confusion with way too many questions swimming around your head and lots of explanations that go every which way. Solution? Be patient. The story is a bit complex because so many things tie into each other over the entire series. I'd recommend playing KH1 and KH2 then going back to connect the dots. Or you can read up on the summary for whichever game you want to get the main idea then look into the smaller details that may not make much sense. There will be different explanations, theories, etc. but it's up to you to piece together the story of KH; it's like a mystery puzzle. Some people get it right away, others may not (in my case it took forever). I'm sure if you ask someone here, they'll give you a good explanation....this is a KH website after all.

 

Honestly, it took me almost 2 years to understand KH (I played them majorly out of order). Paying attention to details and reading up on them helped a lot.

 

But if you want to continue with KH you're going to have to deal with the fact that Disney plays a large part in the series, there's no way around it.

Thank you. I am so glad that I did not have to go through the frustration of telling people that they were wrong in saying that Sora and Riku were in the Realm of Darkness.

If only it was that easy...

Well its what I do in world I don't like! I found some of the worlds to be boring so instead I spent my time focusing purely on things that interested me. Such as how funny Sora can look when he runs, or the way he talks in cutscenes. It helps distract me from other things I don't like. I particularly like how fascinated he is by things in the worlds, such as talking doorknobs or going to see Santa!
