I never beat it on the first try.....it usually takes a few times x'D

My trick for that fight is to charge him with a surge command, run past him, find one of the thickest/tallest rocks, and hide behind it. It's an uber slow process but it works. He'll lose sight of you. I'll lock on to him and use raid commands (which fly through the rock when locked on). Sometimes he'll scramble around way too far and I'll have to peek out but I set mines down so that he'll hit them as he attacks.

The mines are the best to win this guy . Oh and you also need to avoid his attacks . Hiding behind the rocks is perfect  for that .

Guys, beating Vanitas' remnant isn't as hard as you might think. Sure, the guy can literally kill you in one blow, but there's a certain trick to how you make sure your the one that comes out winning.  First, be sure to have the Second Chance and Last Chance abilities, because that will help you in surviving the battle, and make sure to have Mine Square or a Mine related spell, because trust me, that indeed works.  That, and make sure to dodge constantly like a maniac, oh, and try not to heal yourself since he'll heal himself too the minute he sees you heal yourself, and then just slash and dash and dodge and keep using Mine spells until his HP drops.  Honestly, this is one of the most mindfudging secret bosses I've encountered, since the darn guy has only one health bar, which just makes it all the more awesome to beat. Good luck to all of you! :D

P.S: I nerdgasmed when I beat Vanitas Remnant, lol. xD

Never on the first try. ._. Mysterious Figure's still worse than this guy, though. Holy crap, my death counter for that fight before I won would be worse than Krillin's losing streak.

Welp. I guess I fall right into that category. If for one reason, and one reason only...my friend and I had a race to see who could reach max level with all three characters first. After about a couple of weeks, I won. Then I went on ahead and faced him. It was still pretty hard, but I managed to pull through.
