So have you ever felt embarresed about buying the so called "kiddy games" like Mario, Kirby, animal crossing, and other games that look "cartoony" and playing them around other people? Especially if you're an adult? I know that age should NEVER stop you from playing a game that you like no matter how "cartoony" it is but I'm just curious to know if anyone's ever felt that way when playing those types of games around your friends or family.

I honestly don't feel that way because that's like saying that you're not going to watch the classic cartoons like Charlie Brown, The Flintstones, and Tom & Jerry all because you're too old for it.

No . I always play Mario Karts on the Wii with my friends when they come 'round . Yeah , I am 16 but still I do think "cartoony" games are great !

One of the reasons I'm focusing on my appearance a bit more and losing a little weight, is so I can be attractive enough to get away with doing things like that in public.

Of course not. I ignore any and all arguments that the only games 'adults' can play are the crap Activision and EA spews out every year.

I even more hearily ignore the argument that 'adults' don't play videogames at all.

What do you mean?

Hell no . Seriously even adults play this stuff too and one day we will play it with our kids .As long as you are responsible, productive, and work hard with the things you need to take serious it shouldn't matter how you unwind or play as long as it isn't hurting anyone or yourself.

I'm still a kid so no

What do you mean?

Because an attractive woman who looks at geek stuff in public, is judged less than an unattractive woman who looks at geek stuff in public (or men who look at geek stuff in public).

If I can get by, walking around town with my goofy friends, I have nothing to worry about. Honestly when I purchase a Nintendo game such as Mario or Zelda, or even Kirby, I get into great conversations with the employees at GameStop. Hell even if I'm buying a more mature game, we still talk about the "kiddy games." The guys at GameStop love Nintendo. They bring their DSes for streetpass all the time. I've seen them talk about other games from Sony and Microsoft, but their enthusiasm is barely ever there.

I see. But still, you shouln't let people judge you all because of how you look. You can still look at geek stuff wheather you are attractive or unattractive.

Yeah, sometimes I feel a bit embarrassed. Going to GameStop is actually a very stressful experience sometimes--"are you sure you don't want the pink one?" "girl games are on that rack" etc., so if I'm not there to buy a more "adult" or "boyish" game, I feel really embarrassed. Buying Animal Crossing: New Leaf was just REALLY frustrating because not only do I look like a college-age kid rather than newly sixteen, I get frustrated with all of the feminine stereotypes, so it's a double whammy for me.

That's actually very rude.  GameStop should never do that.

Wait...."girl games" rack? They have one of those? O.o That's sad...

The firetrucks I give is from zero to zero, so take a guess how many I give exactly.

Although I do admit I'm curious to know what they (anything not named Nintendo World) think of me whenever I buy said games. Eh probably whatever.

IKR?? And when I buy "boy" games, I almost always get asked who I'm buying it for, as if the idea that I could be buying CoD or Last of Us or something for myself is completely absurd. Buying games in general, no matter what kind of game it is, is just extremely embarrassing because of this gross "only dudes can be gamers" thing.

At my local GameStop they do, but thankfully it's only the DS games that are divided.

I used to from time to time, but not any more. Actually, I've found that some of the best games out there are "cartoon" games, such as Kingdom Hearts. That said, I have felt a little out of place buying "kiddie games" instead of more "mature ones". I remember about two years ago, I went to Gamestop to buy a game for my birthday. I guess that a new CoD game (or some other popular shooter game, I can't remember which it was) had just been released, and being a guy in my mid-teens, the employee at the front desk expected me to buy it. The look on his face when I asked to buy Lego Star Wars 3 was priceless. I felt kind of embarrassed at the time, but now I find it kind of funny.

I don't care, and I never did. I buy whatever video games I want - I'm not concerned about anyone else's opinion.

Haha, since when do I give a fvck about other people

I feel like I shouldn't, but I usually do because of really bad social anxiety. Unless I'm around other people I know, I typically keep those games hidden. xD I remember I'd hide out behind the school to play Pokemon Y last semester for that reason...

Eh, I don't really care. I've never gotten any flak for it. I'm not sure how I would react if someone did comment on it though.

WTH, "girl games rack"? I kinda want to find one of those just so I can see what all is considered a "girl game". But seriously, that just seems wrong.

I should probably take a picture of it because it's just freaking stupid. It's games like Animal Crossing, those fashion/babysitting/etc "imagine" games, and a few other things. Honestly, I'm so grossed out by the fact it exists that I've never really paid close attention to what's on it.

No, I don't play kid games.
