Which classic tales haven't been remade by Disney?

Posted

After seeing Frozen, which is by the way really well made, I began to wonder - which classic tales haven't been remade by Disney and how the plot will go. As usual from Disney we expect a heart melting story, lovely characters, some songs to spice up the story and unexpected plot twists.

When I was little I really loved all kinds of fairytails and with Disney movies I like them even more. So far my favorite are Mulan (based on chinese fairytale) and Treasure Planet (based on book Treasure Island), becuase they are full of originality, have nice songs and their main characters really take you into the story.

So which classic tales are left to be remade into Disney's masterpieces? Not so long ago I found an article with list of all tales that deserve a Disney remake, but unfortunately I forgott how it was called.

What I'm asking you is to tell me which tales do YOU want to see as Disney movies and what will be the most possible plot of it.

I have ideas for only two of them, so please try to think of as many tales as you can and if you have by any chance idea about the plot please share it on this topic.

My two ideas:

( perhaps I will write stories about them, but not right now becuase my exams won't allow me)

Little Red Riding Hood:

I really like an idea of romance-detective-action-like plot that I've seen in 2011 film Red Riding Hood. Through the whole film you have to figure out who is the Big Bad Wolf that is killing people in village. Of course Disney wouldn't put something like that in animated movie, but perhaps something simmilar wouldn't be half bad to be put in. My idea of plot is that Red Hood is a teenager who had as a child lost her best friend in the forest. Everyone except her believe her friend was killed by a wolf that has started to appear shortly after his disappearence. One day Red Hood needs to visit her grand mother (healer or something) in order to protect the village from the wolf. She's accompanied  by another boy (representing the hunter from tale) to collect special herbs and take those to her grand mother who would use them for some sort of charm. But in the forest, Red Hood and boy meet the wolf that doesn't look as usual one...

I still have to think about the unexpected plot and ending. ;)

The Ugly Duckling:

Disney has actually already remade this classic tale, but only in short-lenght version. My idea of full-lenght version is to be a bit fantasy-adventure-action-romance plot and main charactor being some sort of human-bird like creature (boy with wings instead of arms, ruffled hair that looks like feathers and few tail feathers). Story would begin in clan of bird-humans with golden feathers when boy with grey feathers is born. He's bullied by everyone except for a bit older boy who thinks about him as cool and special. One day their clan is attacked by outsiders (hunters or something) and boy along with his golden feathered friend are forced to flee. They face lots of adventures together until one day when they're separted by snow storm. Grey feathered boy is left alone and tries to survive on his own. After some time passes he witnesses a flock of white-feathered clan that gets attacked by number of hunters. Boy manages to save one girl, but her eyes are injured and she can't see. While he takes care of her, she keeps wanting to see how he looks like despite his sayings of how ugly he is for her pretty eyes to see. But one day he falls ill and girl decides to remove the bandage form her eyes in order to help him...

gonna stop here, don't want to spoil you with my idea too much ;) If you really want to know what happens next you'll just have to be patient a little bit

So those are my ideas for two tales that I want to see as Disney's movies. Which ones do YOU want to see as Disney remake?

RWBY remade Little Red Riding Hood- it just can't be topped currently so Disney should steer clear for a while longer

The Ugly Duckling was Lilo & Stitch

I'm personally rooting for an adaptation of The Straw, The Coal, and The Bean.

Best fairy tale ever.

The Ugly Duckling was also Chicken Little's love interestAnd yeah Little Red Riding Hood and Swan Princess (I know Swan Princess has already been a movie but Disney could still make their own version of it)

Yes yes I did.

Yes yes I did.

I found it terrible

Star Wars Episode 4, 5, and 6. >: D

On a more serious note:The White Cat (I am not sure if it is a classic, and I know it is a variant of other tales, but I think this one would make a better movie.)

Hmm...

Maybe East of the Sun and West of the Moon. It's one of my favorites, and I'd be interested to see how Disney would tackle that one.

FUN (AND USELESS!) FACTS: A famous ex-Disney animator, Don Bluth, tried to do this story, but due to financial issues, it never came to be.

The same thing happened to his film based on Jason and the Golden Fleece, and HIS version of Beauty and the Beast back in the 1980's.
