March 20, 201411 yr They have ten billion in the bank. Would still be 40 years fo that money to run out. So the image is not exactly wrong, plus they don't have any debts like Sony, so they are here to stay, plus the QoL platform should destroy or lower any losses brought by the videogame business side of the company.
March 20, 201411 yr Still doesn't mean they'll survive for the coming centuries. I hope Nintendo actually tries on the next console they make... Or at least make a Super Mario Galaxy 3.
March 20, 201411 yr Wow. Just wow. They need to start getting serious, so that money can last longer. They need to do something unique, instead of just targeting people who want to stay fit.
March 21, 201411 yr Good. Now put those resources into a proper next gen title. What even defines a "proper" next gen title? Currently the best next-gen games out there are on the Wii U and given that Nintendo are full of surprises it would be stupid to assume that they don't have something up their sleeves. X looks great. Smash looks great. Mario Kart 8 looks great. There's also others I haven't mentioned. Next gen doesn't mean power. The Wii U is a very weak machine in comparison to the PS4/Xbone but that doesn't mean it's not capable of great next gen titles.

Your a game developer right? And you seek to put your game out there with the best story, best gameplay and best graphics on one of the best hardware out there. If you wanted to make a next gen realization of your game, you wouldn't want to go to Wii U. And the best next gen games are on Wii U? Hate to break it to you but the same recycled games nintendo has been pumping out for the past 2 decades with a few new tweaks, is not that inticing to hardcore gamers.

Developers want their games to be the best possible and some might not find the Wii U the best fit for their realisation but then again others might. Yeah because you know those same recycled games minus a few tweaks don't sell like hot cakes when they do get released. Nintendo relies a little too heavily on certain franchises I know that but then again how are they any different from other developers? Every series out there is just made up of whatever the previous game was but with a few tweaks. Without even naming a few certain shooters or football games, each one is the exact same as the last and those constantly sell to the "hardcore" gamers. (I should note I despise the hardcore gamer term) Nintendo games appeal to everyone not just those who like to blow up the odd building here and there. Sure, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is just an updated Donkey Kong Country Returns, Mario Kart 8 is just a far prettier game than Mario Kart Wii but with elements taken from Mario Kart 7 and so on. But the fact is, this works for them. The 3rd party support is killing Nintendo at the moment, but they still got games like Deus Ex, Batman AC/AO, Assassins Creed, etc. They finally get 3rd party exclusives like The Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 and people who don't own a Wii U constantly complain about the latter. In the end, you can't please everyone but at least Nintendo do not pump out recycled games from the same series every year like other games the so-called hardcore gamers flock to. This right here is the true appreciation of a gamer. We dun have to be happy with everything, but we do appreciate the blood and sweat that goes into making each and every console and game out there. Some games like CoD or Football are usually bothersome sights, but we let it pass. It's not always the games or consoles that define a company. It's the appreciation and support given by each and every gamer.
