Apparently all Keyblade masters are unbelievably stupid

My only defense for Yen Sid... he admitted his stupidity at the end of DDD and apologized for it.

Only to announce said stupid decision shortly after

Seriously both say they both can win or neither...yet both masters biasly chose their favorites nonsensical reasons

Well, Disney characters make stupid decisions anyway. And I think they intentionally made Eraqus unlikable.

You're kinda making them look bad. Was that it?

huh?I'm not the who made them look bad,it's their stupid nonsensical actions that made them look bad especially for one who claims the ultimate wisdom like Yen Sid

Well, as for the test, to gain the title they can't just be handed it, they had to prove they had the skill to earn it.   And specifically in a conversation between Mickey and Yen Sid it was mentioned that more Keyblade Masters are needed.

Additionally provided a good excuse for setting all the stats back to 0 so you can start off with nothing, which ultimately was the purpose of taking away all abilities.

Additionally, without that, the games would have been over a lot sooner.

Umm they demonstrated their skills and completed the task they were asked to do but only one of them one because the master was so derpy and forgot to pull them out before Organization XIII get them?

Sora's failure makes no sense as both sealed all the keyholes and both were supposed to come back through the next portal after the Fantasia world but it led them to the Organization's headquarter instead

Test needed, maybe I can agree, but the master being derpy and stupid, that I'm sure of

More like Nomura wanted a shock twist were both weren't Keyblade Master's at the end

More like Nomura wanted a shock twist were both weren't Keyblade Master's at the end

Well that certainly backfired as it wasn't shocking but rather felt stupid to me even though I love KH3D

1. I agree totally with Yen Sid and Eraqus being dumbasses and have stated my thoughts on this many times .

2. There is a reason Sora wasn't made Master . Nomura has stated such in several interviews :

• In Kingdom Hearts 3D, Sora does not become a Keyblade Master. Because Sora is one of your favorite characters, was it difficult for you to put him in this position or choice due to Kingdom Hearts III? And with Kairi, will she and Sora ever achieve the Mark of Mastery?

Nomura : I thought a lot about whether Sora was to become Keyblade Master or not. But because I always wanted Sora to relate to the players, if he became Master, it would have meant he would have really reached a very high level and it is not yet ready for it, and we do not want that to happen. The decision to not make Sora a Keyblade Master was not really difficult, but I thought it was better that he remains an ordinary boy to be closer to the players.

Sora’s just a regular boy, huh. Why isn’t he the daring hero type?

Nomura: There is the thought that the player is equal to Sora. Naturally, there are people who are not like Sora. (Laughs.) But I had the premise that a heart like Sora’s exists within all the players. Sora is “ordinary”, therefore everyone is “ordinary”. I figure even if you’re “ordinary”, for something important everyone can exhibit a special power just like Sora.

Regardless, just like Terra , Sora has the power and strength of a Master even if he doesn't have the official title. He's proven this over and over saving the world several times .Title means nothing .

Well I agree with that but Sora being a (quote unquote) "Normal boy" is straight up bullshit

The boy is connected to Kingdom Hearts, the most powerful source of light and darkness in the universe, managed to store three freakin hearts inside him(his own,Kairi's and Ven's) and unlocked the door to the light during his battle with Ansem the seeker of Darkness

Nomura should understand that just because a character isn't normal doesn't mean that we can't relate to.....otherwise Nomura doesn;t really watch a lot of shonen I guess

Well Nomura says that but then also stated Sora was always destined to wield and Aqua even sensed that when she almost gave him the ceremony but decided not to when she sensed someone gave it to Riku and didn't want this to come between the two like it did with her and Terra.Yet he still ended up wielding which just proves it was his destiny and is the only wielder to wield without the ceremony . He also, as a newborn heart, was able to rescue Ven and then did it again 4 years later . I believe this only proves he is special in some sort of way .If you think of it like that you can see how Nomura contradicts what he says with what happens in the plotlines. It doesn't help his case when it's also been stated Sora is the only one who can save them all which infers he IS special . DDD just confirms this more .

Exactly, why does Nomura insist on denying it thinking that we won't relate to him?

I mean if I can relate to the half-esper half-human girl Terra Branford from Final Fantasy VI,then what's stopping me from relating to Sora with all the powers he has?

or heck what about Zidane from Final Fantasy 9 who's almost the same age as Sora ?

Nomura should really stop the whole he's normal bullshit. And while he at it how about removing the parents from canon?Cuz really if he can just leave again after a 1 year absence then his parents add jackshit to the story

and it's not like Disney never had it's share of orphan characters in their movies so what's so hard about making Sora an orphan who lives alone in his house or got adopted?Cuz there is no way in hell his parents would let him leave AGAIN after a full year of being away

Who said Nomura logic made sense ? Look at the retcons in DDD alone . Don't try to make sense of nonsense and just go with it . As for his parents, it's just a tiny detail never expounded on and even Nomura has stated that such little details don't always need explained if it's not too important to the plot .It's just a small detail that has turned into a 'running joke ' with the fanbase and prolly always will be .xD

Let's face it, Metal Snake. The Mark of Mastery Exams is pretty much the Kingdom Hearts version of the Chonin Exams. Sora is pretty much the Naruto Uzumaki of the series. Because they both participated and failed their exams for stupid reasons (Naruto "failed" his exam all because of Orochimaru's attack on the villaige as well as stopping Gaara from going crazy and Sora failed his all because he fell to darkness). Heck, I don't understand why Naruto still isn't a chonin when he saved the world from Pain's wrath and the fact that he he's fighting off Madara along with Sasuke. Same about Sora.

Wanna know why DDD was filled with such retcons?Because of Birth by Sleep and the mess they started with it

Speaking of retcons.I love how Ventus's entire existence was made pointless once Xehanort revealed the true method of forging the X-Blade

It's stupid because it doesn't make any sense when we remember the requirements of success that Yen Sid stated,of which Sora has completed EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM,both were supposed to go back through the next portal but it lead them to OrgXIII instead

Actually it was DDD that screwed everything up with retconning how the X-blade was made and such .DDD was written at the last minute so plot wise Nomura wrote it by the seat of his pants .At the time BBS was written that WAS the way the X-blade was suppose to be made but then Nomura changed that when he wrote DDD. I'm not saying BBS had no plot issues but as for the retconning issue that goes to DDD:

Nomura: It’s a gradual process. When Kingdom Hearts was in production, I was considering ideas for Kingdom Hearts II and Chain of Memories. And when those two were in production, I was thinking of ideas for the next three, 358/2 Days, Coded, and Birth by Sleep.

— Were you thinking of KH3D when those 3 titles were in production?

Nomura: KH3D was put together relatively quickly, I was still concepting the story when I brought it to the table

If you want to be technical Sora didn't make it back awake which Yen Sid stated was a requirement even if it wasn't his fault . Just sayin'

Dude they were supposed to go back through the next portal after the Fantasia world if it wasn't for FREAKIN ORGANIZATION XIII!!!!

Literally he threw Sora straight into their trap and expect him to come back unharmed?

That's like if in Metroid Prime 3 they decided to demote Samus into the lowest rank possible just because of her having a dark double which is Dark Samus even though the creation of Dark Samus wasn't Samus's fault

Dude no one said it was fair. But that WAS the requirement.Yen Sid said they both did a great job but only ONE could get the title and he chose Riku bc he went above and beyond going into Sora's heart to awaken him - risking losing himself in the darkness as well if he didn't succeed. Like I said , Sora has the power and strength of a master . Title means squat in the long run . Sora didn't even care to take the MoM and only did it for Riku .

THAT  requirement doesn't make sense as BOTH fulfilled it he never said come back to the tower awake or asleep

Also, the whole exam should've been over the moment Organization XIII showed up

It's a writing flaw more than a requirement

Actually yes he did state that they must return safely . Sora didn't even return on his own . He had to be rescued .Better go watch those cut scenes again my friend. As for it being a flaw, not really, considering that Yen Sid said they both did a great job and that Riku was chosen simply bc he could only choose one ( why that is was never stated )and Riku was the one that went above and beyond as I stated previously .He never said he failed per se.

Edit : Regardless Sora didn't fail he just wasn't chosen over Riku . You really should be asking why only one could be chosen for master. It's not like they had a overabundance of them running around .

Now that you mention it; the Mark of Mastery does seem to incite and promote a competitive nature; which I feel is a little unnecessary.

Agreed .There is little point to it in this point in time and upcoming crisis .They really need as much skill and teamwork as possible .
