Kingdom Hearts 3 Changes the Fundamental Structure of the Series

Posted

4Gamer: This makes us hope… maybe we will be able to play KH3 without much wait after 2.5….

Yasue: At this stage I can’t make any comments regarding a release date, but we are working hard. KH3 changes the fundamental structure of the series so far, so we have to do a lot of research as we go along, but the plans for our content and ideas are steadily moving forwards.

I'm not exactly sure if this has been covered or not, but here ya go anyway.

im predicting a 2016 release with a 3D Final Mix next year. maybe.

I'm not thinking any time soon  even after development is finished they still have to port it down to the PS4 and XBO. Though I wish they'd give us a completion percentage. 30%? 40%? 50%? that's what I want to know

This worries me a little. I love sequels that FEEL like the last game, even if things are changed. (Jak II and 3, KHII, and any of the Halo sequels are all perfect examples) But changing the fundamental structure of the series? I dunno...I trust the team, but this makes me a little uneasy.

I mean they've experimented with so many different styles over all of the different platforms already.

I'm sure whatever they come up with will be relatable to at least one/some of the previous games.

I just feel like it will be late fall 2015 or early or mid 2016 for KH3; but we can't really tell much at this point until more gameplay/cutscene trailers appear to help track with the development progress.

Agreed. Although, they did change up things a bit with the gameplay on the handheld titles, and that turned out fine. But if this is changing the fundamental structure, i'm guessing its more than just the gameplay. Maybe it could mean that the Story structure is going to be changed too? :

They'll probably end KH3 with the introduction of a multiverse; Pixar Universe, Final Fantasy Universe, Marvel Universe, Star Wars Universe... :P

Don't think of Marvel and Lucas Films characters as Disney characters. Yes, those franchises are owned by Disney, but that doesn't make them Disney characters...

Actually that worries me too. Maybe they just didn't mean anything that big, just that there are some changes, for example the gameplay.

But still, changing the 'fundamental structure' does sound pretty bad to me. I really hope they don't make too many changes and leave out the KH atmosphere (which I doubt since they seem to be pretty careful with that).

I dunno, maybe I'm just a little sceptic since I didn't enjoy DDD that much compared to other titles...

Oh well, that might just be Square's way to say that KH3 will be epic.

If that's the case then Pixar shouldn't be considered Disney either.

Not entirely true. Pixar has worked in line with Disney ever since the first Toy Story. They have the Disney feel to them, Marvel and Star Wars/Indiana Jones, were only bought by Disney, and have never held affiliation with Disney in terms of film before that. Even the new Marvel movies leave the Disney logo out of them, because other than being a branch off of Disney now, they can still independently make their own movies without too much say in it from Disney. I'd expect the same with Lucas Films.

Hopefully they don't make the game gimmicky. I don't have alot of faith in the Osaka team yet.
