Why Did They Change This Scene In BBS?

Posted

So in the original Japanese version of BBS the evil queen and the magic mirror get a red aura around them when MM is about to fight Terra. But in the English version that scene is changed and instead she threads some chemical at the mirror. So why did they change that scene in the English version?

Here's the original Japanese scene

Now here's the changed scene in the English version

Because Disney didn't like it.

The BBS got hit hard in editing.

why do they change anything from the Japaneses version of any of the Kingdom Hearts game when they bring it over seas because it would ruin the children's minds that play those games (aka Disney bullshit)

Personally, I think the English one makes more sense.

Agreed, I kind of like it a bit more. Especially seeing the green slime against the mirror. Before, the Magic Mirror always looked more like a gateway to another dimension or something, but seeing the liquid hold against the actual glass shows that it really is an actual mirror, one with magical capabilities. (Capabilities that enhanced by said green slime)

Yeah that and I just didn't get the whole red thing. to me it just looked like she was getting frustrated and tookover the mirror and Terra just suddenly disappeared into it.... or maybe I just need to work on my Japanese more >.<

I'd say the Japanese version makes more sense since the Spirit of the Magic Mirror was technically turned into an Unversed when it was made to fight Terra and in the Japanese Version it seems like the Negative Emotions the Queen was feeling were so great she managed to channel them into the Mirror and they affected him and he, out of the Queens transferred Anger, took Terra into the Mirror while changing into an Unversed due to Vanitas' existence.

In the English Version: Mirror refuses to fight, Queen throws potion, Mirror gets annoyed and then suddenly changes his mind. It makes no sense why a potion changes him into an Unversed rather than the Queens Negative Emotions to me. :/

Because American Censorship.

You'd change your mind too if you suddenly had a bottle of hot, smelly cologne thrown in your face. xD

Whoa good catch. I only thought they censored Braig's snipers in BBS. Funny thing to note they kept this mirror censor in FM version as well.

We can only hope 2.5 includes it the way it was suppose to.

It won't. They're porting BBS Final Mix and BBS Final Mix also uses the English version of this scene.

Hooray for censorship!

Peace!

The throwing of the chemicals at least has a cause and effect behind triggering the mirror.  Not to mention taking out red glowing and mouth acting isn't exactly a crime against art.

They certainly did not add it into the Final Mix version, as far as I know, so I did not know about this. Makes more sense without it since it's supposed to be her magic rather than satans.

Because science

The Japanese version has more sense in my opinion, but censorship had it its way :/

I'm curious to know why you think it makes more sense.
